A car kiln has a floor that rolls out on rails, so you load shelves at waist height outside the kiln and then roll the whole load in. For heavy production work it saves an enormous amount of lifting and loading time. Models with Car in the name are car kilns.

Gas kilns can fire in reduction, which produces glaze and clay body results that an electric kiln cannot reproduce. Electric kilns are easier to install, cheaper to run in most places, and need no flue. If you need reduction, you need gas.

Most are three phase and require substantial amperage and correctly sized breakers. Several states also require solid state relays on larger kilns. We review the electrical configuration on every large order before it is submitted, but confirm what your building supplies before you order.

Delivery is curbside. Installation, electrical connection and venting are arranged locally by you. We will tell you exactly what the kiln needs so your electrician and installer can plan ahead, and we would rather answer those questions before you order than after.
