Common questions
Who is the Dragon 24 built for?
The Dragon 24 is Paragon's largest front-loading kiln, designed for production potters, teaching studios, and small businesses firing high volumes of work. Its 9 cubic foot chamber holds significantly more than a standard top-loading kiln of similar footprint, and the front-loading door makes it far easier to load and unload full shelves of greenware or bisque.
Will the Dragon 24 fit through my studio doorway?
Yes, in most cases — Paragon designed the Dragon 24 to fit through a standard 34" doorway, though the door handle needs to be temporarily removed during the move. Measure your access path (doorways, hallways, stairs) before ordering, and let us know if you have unusually tight clearances so we can help you plan delivery.
What voltage and phase do I need?
The Dragon 24 is available at 200, 208, 220, 240, or 480 volts, in either single-phase or three-phase. Most home and small studio installations run single-phase power; three-phase is common in commercial buildings and schools. Confirm what's available on your electrical panel, or have an electrician check, before placing your order — the kiln is wired to the exact configuration you specify.
What's the difference between mercury relays and solid-state relays (SSR)?
The Dragon 24 ships standard with long-life mercury relays, which are durable and cost-effective for element switching. Solid-state relays (SSR) are available as an upgrade and offer quieter, faster switching with no moving parts — a popular choice for shops that fire frequently and want to minimize relay maintenance over time.
Is the warranty valid if I buy from Peach State Pottery?
Yes. Peach State Pottery is an authorized Paragon dealer, so your Dragon 24 comes with Paragon's full one-year manufacturer's warranty. Register your kiln within 30 days of delivery to activate coverage. Kilns purchased from unauthorized sellers do not qualify for manufacturer warranty support.
Not sure if the Dragon 24 is right for your studio? We'll help you compare chamber sizes, voltage requirements, and stand options to find the perfect fit.
