What you get in this price range

These are production machines. The band includes large front loading electric kilns, car kilns where the floor rolls out for loading, and downdraft gas kilns for reduction firing. Chambers run from roughly 12 cubic feet up past 50.

Buy here if firing is a core part of how your business or institution operates: production studios shipping work weekly, university ceramics departments, manufacturers, and anyone who needs reduction firing at scale. At this level the kiln is capital equipment rather than a studio purchase.

Freight is quoted individually at this size.A kiln this large may need special equipment to unload and place. Contact us before ordering so we can work out the delivery properly rather than discovering a problem when the truck arrives.
Electrical requirements are substantial.Many models at this size are three phase, and some require specific relay configurations depending on the state you are in. We review this by hand on every large order before it goes to the factory.
Lead times are longer at this size.Large kilns are built to order and the queue is longer than for studio models. If you are working to an academic year or a production schedule, talk to us early.

Questions about kilns in this range

What is a car kiln?

A car kiln has a floor that rolls out on rails, so you load shelves at waist height outside the kiln and then roll the whole load in. For heavy production work it saves an enormous amount of lifting and loading time. Models with Car in the name are car kilns.

Do you quote freight separately on kilns this size?

Yes. Large capacity kilns are quoted individually based on size, weight, access and location, rather than the flat rate that applies to studio kilns. Contact us before ordering and we will give you a delivered cost.

Can I get a written quote for a purchasing department?

Yes. Use our Commercial Quotes page or call or text (470) 264-3563. We regularly provide written quotes for universities, school districts and businesses that need pricing to go through an approval process.

What is the difference between electric and gas at this size?

Gas kilns can fire in reduction, which produces glaze and clay body results that an electric kiln cannot reproduce. Electric kilns are easier to install, cheaper to run in most places, and need no flue. If you need reduction, you need gas.

What electrical supply do these need?

Most are three phase and require substantial amperage and correctly sized breakers. Several states also require solid state relays on larger kilns. We review the electrical configuration on every large order before it is submitted, but confirm what your building supplies before you order.

How long are lead times on production kilns?

Longer than on studio models, because these are built to order and the queue is longer. The estimate is shown on each product page. Contact us for the current factory lead time before committing to a schedule.

Do you install these?

Delivery is curbside. Installation, electrical connection and venting are arranged locally by you. We will tell you exactly what the kiln needs so your electrician and installer can plan ahead, and we would rather answer those questions before you order than after.

Is there a warranty on a kiln this size?

Yes, the manufacturer warranty applies. Coverage and any registration deadline are listed in the specifications on each product page. Buying from an authorized dealer is a condition of warranty coverage on every line we carry, and we are authorized for all of them.
