Olympic Kilns · Electric Kiln · Large Capacity Front-Loading Olympic FL24E Large Capacity Front-Loading Electric Kiln FL24E · 208/240V, 1-Phase or 3-Phase · 34″ W × 34″ D × 36″ H · 24 cu ft · Cone 10 / 2350°F The FL24E is a commercial-grade front-loading kiln built for production studios, universities, and schools that need serious, repeatable capacity. Its 24 cubic foot chamber — nearly three times the size of a standard stackable kiln — loads through a full front door instead of a lid, making it far easier to load and unload heavy shelves of ware. With 4.5-inch brick plus an inch of ceramic fiber backup insulation, it's engineered to hold Cone 10 heat efficiently through long, heavy production cycles.
Max TemperatureCone 10 / 2350°F

Key features
Bartlett KilnStar Controller 12-key digital controller with Ramp/Hold and Cone Fire programming, sized for this commercial kiln's production schedules.
4.5″ Brick + 1″ Fiber Insulation Heavier insulation than Olympic's stackable line, built to hold heat efficiently across this kiln's much larger chamber.
Full Front-Loading Door Swing-open front door instead of a lid, making it far easier to load, unload, and stack heavy shelves at any level of the chamber.
Welded Angle Iron Frame Heavy structural steel frame supports the weight of this large-capacity chamber and the stainless jacket for years of production use.
Stainless Steel Jacket Durable outer shell with corrosion resistance. Provides structural support and a clean, commercial appearance.
Integrated Breaker Box Built-in electrical box simplifies the electrician's connection and keeps wiring contained and protected.
Pilot Light External indicator shows when kiln is receiving power and heating elements are energized.
Type K Thermocouple Industrial-grade temperature sensor positioned for accurate chamber temperature reading.
Optional accessories
Solid State Relay (SSR) Upgrade Replaces mechanical contactors for silent operation and extended element life — especially valuable on a kiln run this frequently.
Kiln Furniture Kit Shelves, posts, and stilts sized for the 34″ chamber. A full furniture set represents a significant investment for a kiln this size — plan accordingly.
Kiln Vent System Commercial-grade venting sized for this chamber's volume removes fumes and moisture and improves shop air quality.
Multi-Zone Control Upgrade Independent control of multiple element zones compensates for heat variance across this very large chamber, top to bottom.
3-Phase Wiring Configuration Reduces amperage draw substantially compared to 1-phase — often the preferred configuration for facilities with 3-phase service.
Power Interrupt Safety System Automatically shuts down kiln if the door is opened during firing. Strongly recommended for shared school and studio environments.
Loading Cart or Shelving Dolly Rolling cart sized to the chamber height speeds loading and unloading of heavy shelves through the front door.
Emergency Parts Kit Spare thermocouple, element connectors, and relay components. Minimizes downtime on a kiln this central to daily production.
Type S Thermocouple Upgrade Platinum-based sensor for improved accuracy and longevity at high temperatures. Recommended for daily Cone 8-10 production use.
Custom Voltage Configuration Olympic can configure the FL24E for other commercial voltage services on request — ask Peach State Pottery before ordering.
Controller upgrade
Genesis Touchscreen — Bartlett InstrumentsRecommended
The Genesis controller replaces the standard 12-key KilnStar with a full-color touchscreen interface and expanded programming capabilities. On a production kiln this size, the ability to store unlimited firing schedules and log firing history for quality control is a real operational advantage.
  • 4.3-inch full-color touchscreen with graphical temperature display
  • Unlimited program storage with cloud backup capability via USB
  • Up to 32 segments per program for complex firing schedules
  • Real-time graphing shows temperature curve during firing
  • Advanced diagnostics including element resistance tracking and firing history logs — useful for production quality control
  • Cone Fire mode with Orton cone temperature equivalents pre-programmed
Common questions
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?
Yes, and for the FL24E this is not optional or minor — the 1-phase configuration draws up to 98 amps and requires a 130-amp breaker, while 3-phase service cuts that down to 57-62 amps on an 80-amp breaker. This is a commercial-scale electrical installation that should be planned with your electrician and, ideally, your building's electrical contractor before the kiln arrives. Direct-wired connection is required; there is no standard plug.
Should I choose 1-phase or 3-phase for a kiln this size?
If your facility already has 3-phase service, it's almost always the better choice for the FL24E — it draws roughly 40% less amperage than 1-phase and uses a smaller breaker. If you only have residential-style 1-phase service available, the FL24E can still run on it, but expect a significant electrical upgrade project. Confirm what's available and get a quote from your electrician before ordering.
How much clearance and floor support does this kiln need?
At roughly 1,665 lbs shipping weight and 58″ W × 56″ D × 70″ H with its stand, the FL24E needs a level, non-combustible floor rated for concentrated load, plus clearance on all sides per Olympic's installation manual for both the door swing and ventilation. We strongly recommend confirming floor loading with your contractor before delivery, especially on upper floors.
Is this kiln appropriate for a school or shared studio?
Yes — the FL24E is a popular choice for university ceramics programs and large community studios because of its capacity and front-loading access. We strongly recommend the Power Interrupt Safety System and Genesis touchscreen controller for any shared or teaching environment to protect students and staff.
How do I register my warranty?
Register your kiln at the Olympic Kilns website within 30 days of delivery. You'll need your serial number (located on the control panel label), purchase date, and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. Warranty registration is required for coverage and must be completed within the 30-day window. Peach State Pottery can assist with registration if needed.
