Common questions
What can I fire in the Iguana?
The Iguana fires to Cone 10 (2350°F), covering the full range of stoneware and porcelain clay bodies as well as low-fire earthenware and mid-range glazes. Its 4.1 cubic foot chamber comfortably holds several shelves of functional ware, making it a good fit for potters moving from a tabletop kiln into regular studio production.
Do I need 208V or 240V, and single-phase or three-phase?
The Iguana ships configured for the voltage and phase you specify at order time — 208V or 240V, single-phase or three-phase. Most home and small studio installations use single-phase power; three-phase is typically found in commercial or school facilities. Check your electrical panel or have an electrician confirm what's available before ordering, since the kiln's wiring is matched to the configuration you choose.
Does the Iguana come with shelves or a stand?
No — like most front-loading production kilns, the Iguana ships as the kiln body itself. Shelves, posts, and a stand are sold separately as a furniture kit and stand accessory, which lets you choose the shelf configuration and mobility option that fits your studio layout.
How does the Iguana compare to the Dragon 24?
Both are front-loading Cone 10 kilns, but the Dragon 24 has more than double the chamber volume (9 cubic feet vs. 4.1) and a wider voltage range up to 480V three-phase. The Iguana is the better fit for a home studio or smaller production shop; the Dragon 24 suits higher-volume or commercial operations that need to fire more work per load.
Is the warranty valid if I buy from Peach State Pottery?
Yes. Peach State Pottery is an authorized Paragon dealer, so your Iguana comes with Paragon's full one-year manufacturer's warranty. Register your kiln within 30 days of delivery to activate coverage. Warranty support is only available through authorized dealers, and it's not transferable from unauthorized or secondhand sellers.
Not sure if the Iguana is right for you? We'll help you compare chamber sizes, temperature requirements, and power options to find the perfect fit.
