  • The freight carrier calls you to book a delivery window.
  • Delivery is curbside with a liftgate. Have a helper or hand truck to move it inside.
  • Check the crate before you sign. Note any damage on the receipt and send us photos.

Enter your ZIP in "See your delivered price" above the Add to cart button to see freight and your delivered total.

Authorized Olympic dealer · full factory warranty

Brand new and shipped direct from Olympic Kilns, so it carries Olympic's full factory warranty. If something goes wrong, call us and we handle the claim with the factory for you.

Warranty terms are in the Warranty and support section below.

Returns: request within 15 days, unused

Because kilns are heavy and often built to order, returns are limited, so we'd rather help you pick the right one up front:

  • Ask within 15 days of purchase or 2 days after delivery, whichever comes first. We issue a return authorization (RA).
  • It must be new, unused (beyond the factory test fire) and in its original packaging.
  • A restocking fee of at least 25% applies, up to 50% on custom, 3-phase or made-to-order units. Return freight is on the buyer unless we made an error.
  • Damaged in transit? Note it on the delivery receipt, send us photos and we'll help with the freight claim.

Not included: shelves, posts and fiber paper (sold separately). Requires a 240V/208V circuit with a NEMA 6-30 receptacle.

Most 240V kilns need their own circuit and the matching outlet, installed by an electrician. Homes are usually 240V; schools and commercial buildings are often 208V, so pick the voltage that matches your panel.

Send us a photo of your breaker panel or outlet and we'll confirm before your kiln is built: 470-264-3563 (call or text).

What’s included
The kiln, with its elements installedThe chamber arrives with Olympic's heavy gauge coiled elements already set in the brick and wired to the control panel. Olympic does not put this model in either its ready-to-fire list or its reassemble-on-the-stand list, so we confirm the delivered state with the factory before your order goes in.
Bartlett KilnStar controller, fitted and wiredThe KilnStar is the standard controller on this kiln and it is installed and wired at the factory. The Genesis touchscreen is a paid upgrade taken at order time, and Olympic's 2026 range no longer offers the RTC-1000, Kiln Sitter, 3-key or V6-CF, so nothing legacy ships here.
One Type K thermocouple and the pilot lightA single Type K thermocouple comes installed and wired to the controller. The control panel also carries a pilot indicator light that comes on whenever the kiln is live. Extra thermocouples only arrive with the 2-zone or 3-zone option, and a Type S is a paid substitution.
Stand or bench, confirmed per orderOlympic publishes stand details for its stackable, oval, studio front loading and large capacity lines, but not for this glass firing model, so we will not print one here. Tell us how you plan to site it and we confirm the stand with Olympic before your order goes in.
Observation plugsHollow ceramic peephole plugs ship with the kiln. Olympic publishes no count for any model, in its manuals or on its site, so we will not print a number here. Ask and we will confirm yours with the factory. Replacements are a stock part.
The operating manual and a two-year warrantyOlympic's printed operating manual travels with the kiln. Olympic's limited warranty runs two years and drops to one year only on Kiln-Sitter models and kilns rated at cone 10. This one is not rated at cone 10, so the full two years apply. Register with Olympic within 30 days of delivery.
Cord and plug, or direct wired, set by your buildOlympic's plug configuration row gives a NEMA 6-30 or 6-50 plug on lower-amperage builds and Direct Wired on higher-amperage ones, and several models are listed as either. The manual hedges the same way, with “If your kiln is equipped with a power cord...”. Tell us your voltage, phase and service and we confirm which one you get before the order goes in.
Not included: glass options, furniture and hookupThe bead door, the quartz viewing window, the flash arm and lid elements in quartz rods are all paid Olympic options. No kiln furniture, shelves or posts ship with the kiln, and stilts, gloves, kiln wash, a pyrometer and all electrical hookup are separate.

Common questions
What types of glass projects can I fire in the Square 149GFE?
This kiln is designed for fusing, slumping, annealing, and casting projects up to 14″ square. The 1700°F maximum temperature handles all standard fusible glass including Bullseye, Spectrum, and Uroboros, as well as borosilicate annealing. The 9″ chamber height accommodates multiple shelf levels for small jewelry pieces or single-layer work for larger plates, bowls, and art panels. The front-loading design makes it particularly convenient for slumping operations where you need to check mold alignment.
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?
Yes, professional installation by a licensed electrician is required. The Square 149GFE draws 15 amps at 240V and requires a dedicated 20-amp circuit with #12 copper wire (#10 for runs over 40 ft). Your electrician will need to install the appropriate breaker and a NEMA 6-30 receptacle. The kiln can also operate on 208V single phase (17 amps on a 30-amp breaker). Always follow local electrical codes and obtain necessary permits.
Does the kiln come with shelves and posts for glass work?
The kiln does not include kiln furniture in the base price. You'll need to purchase an optional glass kiln furniture kit that includes properly sized ceramic shelves (14″ × 14″), shelf posts in various heights for stacking, and fiber paper. It's essential to use kiln wash or fiber paper between glass and shelves to prevent fusion. We recommend purchasing the furniture kit at the same time as your kiln so you're ready to fire immediately upon installation.
How does the front-loading design compare to top-loading for glass work?
Front-loading kilns like the Square 149GFE offer significant advantages for glass artists. You can easily view your work at eye level when loading, check shelf alignment for slumping molds, and access projects without reaching down into a hot chamber. The door design also allows you to crack it open slightly to check firing progress during critical stages. The trade-off is a slightly smaller chamber capacity compared to equivalent top-loaders, and the door hinge requires occasional maintenance to ensure proper sealing.
How is the warranty activated and what does it cover?
Olympic Kilns provides a one-year limited warranty that must be registered within 30 days of delivery to be valid. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship but does not cover normal wear items like elements, thermocouples, and firebrick, which degrade naturally with use. The warranty is only valid when purchased through authorized dealers like Peach State Pottery. Keep your purchase receipt and register online at Olympic's website immediately after delivery. Damage from improper installation, incorrect voltage, or misuse is not covered.
