Returns: request within 15 days, unused
Because kilns are heavy and often built to order, returns are limited, so we'd rather help you pick the right one up front:
- Ask within 15 days of purchase or 2 days after delivery, whichever comes first. We issue a return authorization (RA).
- It must be new, unused (beyond the factory test fire) and in its original packaging.
- A restocking fee of at least 25% applies, up to 50% on custom, 3-phase or made-to-order units. Return freight is on the buyer unless we made an error.
- Damaged in transit? Note it on the delivery receipt, send us photos and we'll help with the freight claim.
Will it work in my space? Power check
Not included: kiln shelves and posts, low-pressure regulator, vent hood, castors, raku tongs and gloves (optional, sold separately). Gas hookup by a qualified installer: propane 11″ w.c. / natural gas 7″ w.c.
Most 240V kilns need their own circuit and the matching outlet, installed by an electrician. Homes are usually 240V; schools and commercial buildings are often 208V, so pick the voltage that matches your panel.

What’s included
The kiln, shipped fully assembledOlympic ships its 23-inch updraft Raku kiln fully assembled, with the burner system mounted and plumbed to the chamber.
Burners with ignition systemOlympic prices this as a single line and it is the whole firing system: the burners, orifices sized for the gas you tell us you run, the manifold with its gas valve, the pilot bar or pilot ring, a magnetic valve with a thermocouple safety shut-off, and the ignition. It arrives mounted to the kiln, not boxed loose.
No controller and no pyrometerOlympic's gas kilns ship with no digital controller and no temperature readout at all, so you fire by cones. The High Limit Controller is a $1,600 option and a pyrometer is a separate purchase, so add one at order time if you want a reading.
The lifting frame and hand crankThe firing chamber sits in a welded frame and a hand crank raises the whole chamber off your work, which is how a Raku kiln is opened. The frame and crank ship with it, so there is no separate stand.
The operating manual and a one-year warrantyOlympic's printed gas kiln operating manual travels with the kiln. Olympic's limited warranty runs two years, cut to one year on any kiln rated at cone 10, and every Olympic gas kiln is rated at cone 10, so one year. Register with Olympic within 30 days of delivery.
Not included: the gas hook-upThe low pressure regulator is a paid option, $175 on the 18-inch and $275 on the 23-inch and 28-inch kilns. The 3/4-inch gas hard line, the hose and the fittings back to your meter or tank are your plumber's work and are not supplied.
Not included: damper and vent hoodNo damper ships with the kiln. Olympic's manual has you cover the flue with a brick or a kiln shelf that you supply. The vent hood is a separate item at $1,700 to $1,750 and is not included.
Not included: furniture and accessoriesNo kiln furniture. Every gas line has its own separately priced furniture kit and shelves and posts are priced one by one. Raku tongs, gloves, stilts and kiln wash are separate items too.

Can this kiln run on both natural gas and propane?
Yes. The Olympic 23 Raku is convertible between natural gas and propane. The kiln can be factory-configured for either fuel type, and conversion kits are available if you need to switch fuel sources. Natural gas typically provides more consistent BTU delivery for long firing sessions, while propane offers greater portability. Contact us to specify your preferred fuel type when ordering.
What are the gas supply requirements for this kiln?
For natural gas operation, you'll need a dedicated gas line with adequate pressure (typically 7-14 inches water column) and sufficient BTU capacity to reach Cone 10 temperatures. For propane, a standard tank with appropriate regulator is required. The exact BTU rating and supply line sizing should be determined by a licensed gas technician based on your facility's specifications. All gas installations must comply with local codes and regulations.
Does this kiln come with kiln furniture?
No, kiln furniture (shelves and posts) is sold separately. Raku firing often requires specialized furniture that can withstand rapid temperature changes and thermal shock. How is the one-year warranty activated?
Register your kiln with Olympic Kilns within 30 days of delivery to activate the one-year limited warranty. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship but does not cover damage from improper installation, misuse, or normal wear components like burner parts. Warranty service is only valid when the kiln is purchased through an authorized Olympic dealer like Peach State Pottery.
