Ships in 12-15 weeks · freight to your door

Olympic Kilns builds most kilns to order once your order is placed, so plan on about 12-15 weeks before it leaves the factory. We email your confirmed ship date and tracking.

  • The freight carrier calls you to book a delivery window.
  • Delivery is curbside with a liftgate. Have a helper or hand truck to move it inside.
  • Check the crate before you sign. Note any damage on the receipt and send us photos.

Enter your ZIP in the freight estimate below to see the delivered cost.

Authorized Olympic dealer · full factory warranty

Brand new and shipped direct from Olympic Kilns, so it carries Olympic's full factory warranty. If something goes wrong, call us and we handle the claim with the factory for you.

Warranty terms are in the Warranty and support section below.

Returns: request within 15 days, unused

Because kilns are heavy and often built to order, returns are limited, so we'd rather help you pick the right one up front:

  • Ask within 15 days of purchase or 2 days after delivery, whichever comes first. We issue a return authorization (RA).
  • It must be new, unused (beyond the factory test fire) and in its original packaging.
  • A restocking fee of at least 25% applies, up to 50% on custom, 3-phase or made-to-order units. Return freight is on the buyer unless we made an error.
  • Damaged in transit? Note it on the delivery receipt, send us photos and we'll help with the freight claim.

Will it work in my space? Power check

Not included: kiln shelves, posts, kiln wash and vent (sold separately). Needs a 20-amp (240V) or 30-amp (208V) breaker and a NEMA 6-30 receptacle.

Most 240V kilns need their own circuit and the matching outlet, installed by an electrician. Homes are usually 240V; schools and commercial buildings are often 208V, so pick the voltage that matches your panel.

Send us a photo of your breaker panel or outlet and we'll confirm before your kiln is built: 470-264-3563 (call or text).

Overview

Olympic Kilns · Electric Kiln · Test Kiln Olympic 1414HE Electric Test Kiln Model 1414HE · 240V · 14.5″ W × 13.5″ H · 1.4 cubic feet · Cone 10 / 2350°F The Olympic 1414HE is a compact high-fire test kiln designed for glaze testing, small production runs, and experimental work up to Cone 10. Built with 3-inch brick walls and a 240V heating system, it delivers consistent high-fire results in a small footprint ideal for studios with limited space. The included KilnStar controller provides 8 cone-fire programs plus 3 user-definable programs for precise firing schedules.
Max temperatureCone 10 / 2350°F
Chamber size14.5″ W × 13.5″ H
Voltage240V single phase
Breaker required20 amp (240V)
What’s included
The kiln, with its elements installedThe chamber arrives with Olympic's heavy gauge coiled elements already set in the brick and wired to the control panel. Olympic does not put this model in either its ready-to-fire list or its reassemble-on-the-stand list, so we confirm the delivered state with the factory before your order goes in.
Bartlett KilnStar controller, fitted and wiredThe KilnStar is the standard controller on this kiln and it is installed and wired at the factory. The Genesis touchscreen is a paid upgrade taken at order time, and Olympic's 2026 range no longer offers the RTC-1000, Kiln Sitter, 3-key or V6-CF, so nothing legacy ships here.
One Type K thermocouple and the pilot lightA single Type K thermocouple comes installed and wired to the controller. The control panel also carries a pilot indicator light that comes on whenever the kiln is live. Extra thermocouples only arrive with the 2-zone or 3-zone option, and a Type S is a paid substitution.
The stand it sits onOlympic's manual is explicit: “Your kiln must be fired only on the metal stand provided.” The stand ships with the kiln. Olympic sells no stand aftermarket. It does not publish the height or form for this model, so we confirm yours before the order goes in.
Observation plugsHollow ceramic peephole plugs ship with the kiln. Olympic publishes no count for any model, in its manuals or on its site, so we will not print a number here. Ask and we will confirm yours with the factory. Replacements are a stock part.
The operating manual and a one-year warrantyOlympic's printed operating manual travels with the kiln. Olympic's limited warranty runs two years, cut to one year on Kiln-Sitter models and on any kiln rated at cone 10. This one is rated to cone 10, so one year. Register with Olympic within 30 days of delivery and keep your invoice.
Cord and plug, or direct wired, set by your buildOlympic's plug configuration row gives a NEMA 6-30 or 6-50 plug on lower-amperage builds and Direct Wired on higher-amperage ones, and several models are listed as either. The manual hedges the same way, with “If your kiln is equipped with a power cord...”. Tell us your voltage, phase and service and we confirm which one you get before the order goes in.
Not included: furniture, vent and hookupNo kiln furniture. Every Olympic line has its own separately priced furniture kit and shelves and posts are priced one by one. The VentMaster downdraft vent, stilts, gloves, tongs, kiln wash and a pyrometer are all separate items, and no receptacle, breaker, wire or disconnect ships with the kiln.

Common questions
What electrical work is required for the 1414HE? The 1414HE requires a 240V single-phase circuit with a 20-amp breaker (30-amp on 208V), #12 copper wire (#10 for runs over 40 ft) and a NEMA 6-30 receptacle. Most installations require a licensed electrician to install a dedicated circuit and outlet. The kiln should be located within reasonable distance of your electrical panel to minimize wire runs.
Does this kiln include kiln furniture? No, kiln shelves and posts are sold separately. We recommend purchasing a furniture kit specifically sized for the 14.5-inch chamber diameter. A typical setup includes 2-3 full round shelves plus half-shelves for efficient stacking, along with posts in various heights (1″, 2″, 3″, and 4″).
What can I fit inside a 1.4 cubic foot test kiln? The 14.5″ × 13.5″ chamber accommodates approximately 30-40 glaze test tiles per firing, or several small production pieces like 4-inch bowls or 6-inch cylinders. It's ideal for glaze testing, jewelry, small sculpture, and experimental work where you need high-fire results without committing to a full production kiln load.
How do I register the warranty? Olympic Kilns requires warranty registration within 30 days of delivery. You'll register directly with Olympic through their website using your purchase documentation from Peach State Pottery. The one-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects and workmanship but does not cover wear items like elements, thermocouples, or firebrick, which are considered consumables.
Should I upgrade to an SSR with this kiln? A Solid State Relay upgrade is highly recommended for test kilns that fire frequently. SSRs extend element life by 50% or more by providing smoother power delivery without the mechanical wear of standard contactors. For a test kiln that may fire multiple times per week, the SSR upgrade typically pays for itself within two years through reduced element replacement costs.
