Common questions
Can I plug this kiln into a regular wall outlet?
The 1214-120HE requires a dedicated 20-amp, 120-volt circuit with a NEMA 5-20R receptacle. While this uses standard 120V household power, most wall outlets are 15-amp circuits. You'll need a licensed electrician to install a dedicated 20-amp circuit with 12-gauge copper wire. This is significantly simpler and less expensive than the 240V circuits required by most high-fire kilns.
Does this kiln come with kiln shelves and posts?
No, furniture (shelves, posts, and stilts) is sold separately. The 11.25″ diameter chamber accommodates 10.5″ round shelves or custom-cut square shelves. We recommend purchasing a furniture kit designed specifically for this kiln size to maximize usable chamber space and ensure proper stacking height.
How long does it take to fire to Cone 10 on 120 volts?
Firing times are longer than 240V kilns due to the lower wattage (2400W). Expect 10–14 hours for a bisque firing and 12–16 hours for a Cone 10 glaze firing, depending on load density and programmed ramp rates. The extra-thick 3-inch brick insulation is critical for reaching high-fire temperatures on 120V power.
What is covered under the Olympic kiln warranty?
Olympic provides a one-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty must be registered within 30 days of delivery and is valid only on kilns purchased through authorized dealers like Peach State Pottery. Consumable components like elements, thermocouples, and brick are excluded from warranty coverage.
Is this kiln suitable for ceramic sculpture or production pottery?
The 1214-120HE is best suited for test tiles, small production work, jewelry components, and sculptural pieces under 11″ tall. The 0.75 cubic foot chamber limits production capacity, but the Cone 10 capability makes it invaluable for glaze testing and small batch work where 240V power isn't available. For full production needs, consider a larger 240V model.
Not sure if the Olympic 1214-120HE is the right kiln for your space? Our team can help you evaluate electrical requirements, firing capacity needs, and optional accessories.

Warranty

Olympic Kilns Warranty

Olympic Kilns are warranted by Olympic Kilns / Haugen Manufacturing, Inc. for kilns used for ceramics, pottery, and glass, subject to the warranty periods, requirements, and exclusions listed below.

This warranty is provided by Olympic Kilns / Haugen Manufacturing, Inc. Peach State Pottery is here to help customers understand warranty coverage and assist with the process if warranty service is needed.

Warranty Periods

Warranty coverage depends on the kiln type and configuration.

Product / Component Warranty Period
Kilns equipped with a Kiln Sitter and Safety Timer 1 year
Cone 10 kilns 1 year
All other Olympic kilns 2 years
Thermocouples Not covered
Kiln furniture Not covered

Warranty coverage must be activated by registering your purchase.

What the Warranty Covers

Olympic Kilns warranty coverage applies to defects in manufacturing for eligible kilns used for ceramics, pottery, and glass.

If a covered manufacturing defect is confirmed, Olympic Kilns may repair, replace, or refund the affected part or product as appropriate.

Warranty Registration Required

To activate warranty coverage, your Olympic Kilns purchase must be registered. Keep your proof of purchase, order information, and any product documentation for your records.

Reporting a Defect

Defects must be reported in writing within six (6) days of discovery. Your written notice should include:

  • The date the issue was discovered
  • The place of purchase
  • Proof of purchase
  • A description of the defect
  • Photos or videos, if available

Warranty Exclusions

The Olympic Kilns warranty does not cover damage or issues caused by:

  • Kilns damaged or altered after leaving the factory.
  • Damage caused by reduction firing or salt firing.
  • Over-firing or exceeding the maximum cone or temperature rating.
  • Improper installation.
  • Use of electrical voltages different from those specified for the kiln.
  • Firing materials other than ceramics and glass.
  • Thermocouples or kiln furniture.

Freight Damage Is Not Warranty Damage

Damage that occurs during shipping or delivery is not treated as a manufacturing warranty defect. Freight damage must be documented at delivery and handled through the freight claim process.

Please inspect your shipment carefully before signing for delivery. Take photos or video of the packaging before unpacking and continue documenting the unpacking process, especially if you notice any visible damage.

Warranty Claim Process

If you believe your Olympic kiln has a warranty-related issue, contact Peach State Pottery with your order information and a description of the issue. We will help review the situation and assist with the next steps.

If the issue is not resolved through the retailer, Olympic Kilns must be contacted in writing within six (6) days of the first indication of the defect.

Olympic Kilns will determine which parts appear to require repair and will provide instructions for shipment when needed.

Customer Responsibilities

For warranty service, the customer may be responsible for dismantling, packaging, and shipping only the parts requested by Olympic Kilns.

  • Requested parts must be packaged carefully and shipped freight prepaid.
  • The customer is responsible for dismantling and reinstalling parts.
  • The customer is responsible for packaging and shipping costs unless otherwise stated.
  • Only the parts requested by Olympic Kilns should be shipped.

If an entire kiln is returned for warranty repair, the customer is responsible for prepaying the cost of packaging and shipping both to and from the factory.

Repair, Replacement, or Refund

If Olympic Kilns determines that the issue is due to a manufacturing defect, Olympic Kilns will repair, replace, or refund as appropriate within thirty (30) days.

Repaired or replacement parts will be shipped back to the customer at Olympic Kilns’ cost using the customer’s package. The customer is responsible for reinstalling the parts.

Non-Warranty Repairs

If the parts sent to Olympic Kilns require repair or replacement for a reason not covered by the warranty, no work will be performed until the customer authorizes the work and makes payment arrangements.

Limits of Warranty Coverage

Olympic Kilns shall not be liable for injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of its products.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to every customer. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.

Please retain all original packaging until the issue is resolved.

Manufacturer’s Recommended First Firing is allowed without affecting your return eligibility, as long as the kiln is returned in excellent, like-new condition with all original parts and packaging.
