  • The freight carrier calls you to book a delivery window.
  • Delivery is curbside with a liftgate. Have a helper or hand truck to move it inside.
  • Check the crate before you sign. Note any damage on the receipt and send us photos.

Returns: request within 15 days, unused

Because kilns are heavy and often built to order, returns are limited, so we'd rather help you pick the right one up front:

  • Ask within 15 days of purchase or 2 days after delivery, whichever comes first. We issue a return authorization (RA).
  • It must be new, unused (beyond the factory test fire) and in its original packaging.
  • A restocking fee of at least 25% applies, up to 50% on custom, 3-phase or made-to-order units. Return freight is on the buyer unless we made an error.
  • Damaged in transit? Note it on the delivery receipt, send us photos and we'll help with the freight claim.

Will it work in my space? Power check

Not included: argon kit, knife rack and furniture kits (sold separately). Comes in 120V/15-amp or 240V/20-amp versions.

Most 240V kilns need their own circuit and the matching outlet, installed by an electrician. Homes are usually 240V; schools and commercial buildings are often 208V, so pick the voltage that matches your panel.

What’s included
The oven itself, assembled and wired Built and wired in West Bend, Wisconsin, and shipped ready to connect. The type K thermocouple and the 40-amp solid-state relay are already installed inside it. The relay is an internal switching component, not the controller — the controller is a separate branded unit you choose when you order.
One programmable controller, as selected You pick the controller at the time of order, and one ships with the oven. Current HotShot builds use the Bartlett Genesis Spark touchscreen, the TAP II Pro touchscreen or TAP&Go app-connected control. HotShot publishes no controller list for this model, so we confirm which options it takes before the order goes in.
Attached power cord and molded plug The cord is fitted at the factory with a molded plug. HotShot does not publish a cord length for this model, so we do not quote one. HotShot publishes amp ratings only and no NEMA plug code for any of its models, so we check the plug against the outlet you are going to use before your order ships.
User manual and controller manual The oven manual plus the separate manual for whichever controller you chose — HotShot issues those as distinct documents, so you get the one that matches your unit.
Warranty — we confirm the term for your model HotShot warranty terms vary by family and by build year across this line, and HotShot publishes no term for this model. Rather than print a number we cannot stand behind, we get the term in writing from the factory before your order ships.
Not included Stand or bench, knife rack, kiln posts, shelves and any other kiln furniture are separate purchases. No HotShot manual or product page lists any of them as shipping with an oven. The argon gas kit, where a model takes one, is also a separate item.

Common questions
What steel types can I heat treat in the HS-360K?
The 2200°F maximum temperature handles most common knife steels including 1095, 5160, O1, A2, D2, and 52100. High-alloy stainless steels like CPM-154, S30V, and 440C require austenitizing temperatures between 1900°F and 2050°F, well within this oven's range. Very high-alloy powder metallurgy steels like S90V or Maxamet may require higher temperatures and are better suited to larger Hot Shot models. Hot Shot’s optional argon kit allows you to introduce protective gas during heat treatment to prevent oxidation and decarburization.
Can I use controlled atmosphere in this oven?
Yes, with Hot Shot’s optional argon kit (sold separately), which includes tubing, fittings and a ceramic dispensing needle. Argon helps prevent oxidation and decarburization during high-temperature austenitizing. This is particularly important for thin blade sections and high-alloy tool steels where surface carbon loss affects edge performance. You'll need to supply your own argon and regulator.
Should I order 120V or 240V?
120V operation works with standard household outlets but has slower heat-up times and longer cycle durations. 240V heats significantly faster and is more efficient for production work or repeated heat treating cycles. If you're doing occasional hobby work and don't have 240V in your shop, 120V is sufficient. For professional knife making or high-volume work, 240V is worth having an electrician install a dedicated circuit. Both versions reach the same 2200°F maximum temperature.
What controller options are available?
The HS-360K comes standard with Hot Shot’s Tap&Go programmable controller and a solid state relay—you set the desired temperature and Tap&Go manages the firing to reach and hold it. For stored custom programs with ramp rates, hold times, and multi-step cycles, you can upgrade to the Spark or TAP II touchscreen controller. This is especially useful for complex heat treating schedules that require precise temperature steps, such as pre-heating, austenitizing, and tempering cycles. A stored program eliminates guesswork and ensures repeatable results.
Is my warranty valid if I buy from Peach State Pottery?
Yes. Peach State Pottery is an authorized Hot Shot dealer, which means your one-year limited warranty is fully valid when you purchase from us. The warranty must be registered within 30 days of delivery. Warranties are not honored on units purchased from unauthorized resellers or used equipment. As an authorized dealer, we can also assist with technical support and warranty claims throughout your ownership.
