Common questions
Which diameter fits my kiln?Match the shelf to your kiln’s inside diameter, not its model number. A shelf wants a little clearance all round so hot air can move — it should not touch the brick. Send us your model number and we will tell you the size and how many you need per load.
How many shelves do I need?One per level you intend to stack, and most potters run two or three levels in a mid-size kiln. The kiln floor itself is your bottom surface, so a two-level load needs one shelf, not two.
Full round or two half rounds?A full round is simpler and stronger. Two halves are easier to lift, let you set two different post heights on one level, and mean a single cracked shelf costs you half as much to replace.
Why is the 26" listed for glass kilns?That is how Jen-Ken specifies it — it is their 1" shelf for the 26" glass kilns. It is a cordierite shelf like the rest; the 1" thickness is there to stay flat across a wide span under glass work.
