Evenheat size these by diameter and thickness together, and the thickness is not cosmetic — a thicker shelf stays flatter across a wider span, which is why the 21" is ¾" and the 12" is only ½". Pick the size that matches your kiln, not the biggest that will drop in.

The 10.25" costs more than the 12" — that is Evenheat’s list, not a mistake here. The large SP 41 shelf and the 21" ship as freight; the three smaller sizes go flat rate, so a small shelf is much cheaper to get to you.

Common questions
Which size fits my kiln?Match the shelf to the kiln’s interior, leaving a little clearance all round so hot air can move — a shelf should never touch the brick. Send us your model number and we will tell you the size and how many a full load takes.
Full shelf or two halves?A full shelf is stronger and simpler. Two halves are easier to lift, let you run two different post heights on one level, and halve the cost of a crack. If you fire mixed work, halves earn their keep.
Do I need to kiln wash a new shelf?Before the first glaze firing, yes. Glaze will bond to bare shelf and take a chunk with it when you chip it off. Wash is a few dollars; a shelf is not.
