Common questions
Why do the hinge and brace need my kiln model?Because Cress makes them to fit the body, and the geometry differs between models. Cress prints “specify model of kiln” on both lines of their own parts list. Give us the model and we will get the right one.
What does the gravity-lock brace do?It holds the lid open and locks under its own weight, so the lid cannot fall while you are loading. If yours is bent or the lock no longer catches, replace it — a kiln lid is heavy.
Do I need the venting prop?It is how you hold the lid cracked open through the early part of a firing to let moisture and organics out. If you are venting by balancing the lid on something, this is the part you want.
How do I know this is the right part for my kiln?Send us the model and serial number off the kiln's data plate, at sales@peachstatepottery.com or (470) 264-3563. Cress built kilns for decades and their part lists use a shorthand that does not always map cleanly onto a model name, so we check it by hand rather than letting you guess.
Are these genuine Cress parts?Yes. We are an authorized Cress dealer and everything here is ordered from Cress in Carson City, Nevada, against their current parts list.
What if Cress no longer makes the part I need?Tell us the part anyway. Cress is still manufacturing, and where a part has been superseded they usually have a current equivalent — we would rather find it for you than let you buy the wrong thing.
