Cress · Kiln Furniture · PostsCordierite kiln posts for Cress kilns, in three cross-sections and every height Cress lists. The 1" square is the everyday post. The 1-1/2" square is the heavy-duty one, and the only one that goes above 6" — up to 14". The 1-1/2" triangular has a three-point footprint that sits flat against a shelf edge and eats less shelf space than a square post.

Prices are per post. Three posts carry a half shelf and three or four carry a full one, so a single level is three or four of these, and a full kiln is several levels. Use posts of the same height on a level and stack them in line from one level to the next.

Common questions
How many posts do I need?Three under a half shelf, three or four under a full one. Keep every post on a level the same height, and line the posts up vertically from level to level so the load carries straight down rather than bending a shelf.
Square or triangular?Triangular posts take up less of the shelf surface and sit neatly against a shelf edge, which matters when you are filling a small kiln. Square posts are more stable under a heavy load. Most studios own some of both.
When do I need the 1-1/2" square?Under larger shelves, under heavy loads, and whenever you need to go above 6" — the taller heights, up to 14", only exist in the 1-1/2" square.
How do I know this is the right part for my kiln?Send us the model and serial number off the kiln's data plate, at sales@peachstatepottery.com or (470) 264-3563. Cress built kilns for decades and their part lists use a shorthand that does not always map cleanly onto a model name, so we check it by hand rather than letting you guess.
Are these genuine Cress parts?Yes. We are an authorized Cress dealer and everything here is ordered from Cress in Carson City, Nevada, against their current parts list.
What if Cress no longer makes the part I need?Tell us the part anyway. Cress is still manufacturing, and where a part has been superseded they usually have a current equivalent — we would rather find it for you than let you buy the wrong thing.
