Olympic FL front-loaders and car kilns, Cress EC front-loaders, Paragon CT and Dragon, the big Jen-Ken and Evenheat top-loaders, Olympic DownDraft gas, plus the large glass and knife ovens. One place for everything built to work at volume.
Capacity is the easy part. Power and access are what catch people out
Everyone shopping a big kiln starts with cubic feet, and that is the right place to start. But the three things that actually decide whether a large kiln can go in your space are the electrical service, the door, and the floor.
Power. Most of this range wants 240V single phase at 48 to 90 amps, and the largest production kilns want three phase. That is a dedicated circuit and usually an electrician. Work out what your panel can give you before you fall in love with a model — it is the single most common reason a large-kiln order has to be unwound.
Access and floor. These arrive on a pallet and many weigh several hundred pounds before furniture. Measure the doorway, the turns, and any step. A car kiln solves loading at floor level but needs the run-out space to roll the car. Tell us the route and we will tell you whether it will go.

Why buy a large kiln from us
We would rather lose the order than sell you something that will not fit.
We work the power question first
Send us your panel capacity and we will tell you which models fit it. That conversation costs nothing and saves an electrician visit for a kiln you cannot run.
Authorized dealer for all six brands
Olympic, Paragon, Cress, Jen-Ken, Evenheat and HotShot, ordered direct. On a kiln this size that matters for warranty and for parts in five years.
Freight quoted, not guessed
A kiln this size ships on pallet freight. The rate depends on size, weight and where it is going, so it is quoted rather than flat — and we will tell you the real number before you commit. Terms on our shipping page.
Price match guarantee
Find the same model advertised for less by an authorized dealer and we will match it. Details on our price match page. No sales tax outside Georgia.
What counts as large capacity
This collection is the top of each manufacturer's range rather than a strict cubic-foot band. If you want to shop purely by volume, use Kilns 7 cu ft and Larger.
| Group | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Olympic front-loading and car | The FL series from the FL4.5E up to the FL53E, including the FL12E, FL17E, FL42E and FL53E Car models where the floor rolls out on a car so you load at bench height instead of reaching into a chamber. |
| Olympic large top-loading | The MAS and DM series at 2823, 2827, 3018 and 3023, the 2827E and 2831HE, the TopHat 2827E, and the 2518, 2523, 2527 and 2027 ovals. |
| Cress front-loading and large top | The EC30FH, EC32FH, EC32FHL, EC36FH and EC242431FH front-loaders, plus the ET27, ET28, ET31, ET2831 and E27 top-loaders. |
| Paragon production and front-loading | The CT10 and CT12 series including the Viking and Janus models, the Iguana, Dragon 24 and Super Dragon 27 front-loaders, and the E12T and E14 enameling kilns. |
| Jen-Ken large ceramic and glass | The 2431, 2822, 2829, JK² 22″ and 29″, Mega Coil models, Oval 27, and the Ceram-a-Glass and ProFusion 52 glass chambers. |
| Evenheat large | RM II 2522, 2541, 2929 and 2329, the Glass Kiln Studio Pro 41 and GTS 41 and GTS 23. |
| Gas | Olympic DownDraft DD9, DD12 and DD17, and the 2831G updraft. |
| Large ovens | The big Paragon KM knife ovens including the double barrels up to KM54, Paragon HT22 and PMT21, and Evenheat HT-1 and HT-2. Listed here because they are large capacity, not because they are pottery kilns — see Ovens & Heat Treating for that range properly. |
A note on how this is tagged. “Large capacity” here follows each manufacturer's own naming, so it includes some large ovens alongside the production pottery and glass kilns. If you only want kilns above seven cubic feet, the size-banded collection is the cleaner filter.
FIRST
Three numbers to have ready before you call
Your available amperage at the panel, and whether you have single or three phase. This eliminates more models than anything else.
Your narrowest doorway or turn, in inches, and whether there is a step or a lift involved. Freight drops at the kerb unless you arrange otherwise.
What you fire and how often. A kiln that runs daily for production is a different recommendation from one that fires a big load once a month, even at the same volume. Call us on (470) 264-3563 and we will narrow it in one conversation.

Large capacity kiln FAQs
The questions we get asked on the phone most often.
What electrical service does a large kiln need?
Most of this range runs on 240V single phase and draws somewhere between 48 and 90 amps, which means a dedicated circuit sized by an electrician. The largest production models want three phase.
Work this out before choosing a model. It is the most common reason a large-kiln order has to be unwound, and it is the one thing we cannot fix from our end.
What is a car kiln and is it worth it?
The floor of the kiln sits on a car that rolls out, so you load at bench height on an open platform instead of reaching down into a chamber. Olympic build the FL12E, FL17E, FL42E and FL53E that way.
It is worth it if you load heavy work or load every day. It needs floor space in front of the kiln for the car to roll clear, so measure that as well as the kiln itself.
Front-loading or top-loading at this size?
Front-loading saves your back and makes big flat work far easier to place. Top-loading is usually cheaper for the same volume and has fewer moving parts.
If you are firing production and loading daily, front-loading pays for itself in a year of not bending. If the kiln fires occasionally, a big top-loader is the better value.
How is a kiln this size delivered?
On pallet freight, and the rate depends on size, weight and destination, so it is quoted rather than flat. Standard freight delivers to the kerb — if you need it inside, or there is a step, or the site has no loading dock, tell us up front and we will price it properly.
Full terms are on our shipping page, and for schools, studios and multi-kiln orders see commercial quotes.
Why are knife ovens in a collection called Large Capacity Kilns?
Because they are large capacity, and the manufacturers tag them that way. The big Paragon double-barrel knife ovens and the Evenheat HT ovens are genuinely large chambers, they are just not pottery kilns.
If you came here for metal work rather than clay, Ovens & Heat Treating is the collection you want.
Do you help with install?
We do not wire kilns, and we would be wary of anyone selling you a kiln who claims they will. What we do is tell you exactly what the kiln needs — voltage, amperage, phase, clearances, venting — so your electrician has the real numbers before they quote.
Call us with your panel details and the room, and we will go through it with you.
