Hot Shot · Low Temperature Ceramic Oven · Front-Loading Hot Shot Low Temperature Ceramic Oven HS-1200C Model HS-1200C · Hot Shot 1200KC · 240 Volt · 12" D x 10" W x 10" H · 1200 Cubic Inches · Max Temperature 2200F Single-chamber, front-loading ceramic oven built in Wisconsin for low-fire ceramic work that does not need to exceed 2200F (1204C). The HS-1200C is Hot Shot's 1200 cubic inch cabinet configured for bisque and glaze firing: same 12" x 10" x 10" chamber, Kanthal A1 elements, Type K thermocouple and solid state relay, set up for the potter rather than the knife maker. Cool-Touch construction and a 20 amp circuit let it sit in a working studio without a dedicated kiln room.

Options and upgrades
Genesis Spark Controller Bartlett Genesis Spark touchscreen with Wi-Fi, firing presets and room for custom programs. The usual choice when you want repeatable ramp and hold schedules for glaze work.
TAP II Controller Full-color programmable touchscreen with Wi-Fi and mobile app monitoring, for studios that want to watch and adjust a firing from a phone.
Universal Oven Stand Hot Shot's rolling stand with locking casters, sized for this cabinet. Brings the chamber to working height and lets you reposition the oven.
Additional Bottom Shelf Spare high-density floor shelf so you can load one while the other is in the oven, and protect the floor from glaze runs.
Common questions
What can I fire in the HS-1200C?
Hot Shot classes this as a low temperature ceramic oven, intended for work that does not need to exceed 2200F, including bisque firing and glaze firing of low-fire clay bodies. Hot Shot states that it does not currently offer high-temperature ceramic kilns, and it publishes no cone rating for this model. Cone 6 is commonly cited at roughly 2232F, which is above this oven's 2200F ceiling, so do not plan on cone 6 work in this chamber. If your clay body and glazes call for cone 6 or higher, ask us about a high-fire kiln instead.
Is an argon or atmosphere kit available for this oven?
No. Nothing atmosphere-related ships with the HS-1200C, and Hot Shot does not offer an argon or atmosphere kit on the low temperature ceramic configuration. Hot Shot does sell an optional argon kit for the knife-oven version of this same cabinet, the 1200K, where it is used to limit scale on steel. If controlled atmosphere matters to your work, talk to us before ordering so we point you at the right configuration.
What electrical setup does this oven require?
The HS-1200C runs on 240V single-phase power, draws a maximum of 17 amps, and needs a dedicated 20 amp single-phase circuit with a NEMA 6-20 receptacle. Have a licensed electrician familiar with your local code do the install and confirm wire gauge and breaker sizing for your panel and the run length. Never wire the oven yourself; improper installation creates a real fire and shock hazard and can void your warranty.
Does the standard controller allow custom firing programs?
The standard Tap&Go controller is a set-and-go control: you give it a target temperature and it manages the firing to that set point. It is not a multi-segment programmer. If you need stored ramp and hold schedules, with defined ramp rates, soak times and multiple segments for bisque and glaze cycles, choose the Genesis Spark or TAP II controller upgrade at the time of order. Most ceramic customers take one of the two upgrades for this reason.
Is my warranty valid if I buy from Peach State Pottery?
Yes. Peach State Pottery is an authorized Hot Shot dealer, so the full three-year Hot Shot warranty against defects in material and workmanship applies. Hot Shot requires written proof of the purchase date, so keep your invoice, and warranty repairs are carried out at the Hot Shot facility. Buying from unauthorized sellers, including some online marketplaces, often leaves you with no manufacturer support at all. As an authorized dealer we provide proper documentation and deal with Hot Shot directly on any claim.
Not sure if the HS-1200C is the right kiln for your studio? Our team can help you check chamber size, cone and temperature requirements, electrical needs, and which controller suits your firing schedules.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the HotShot Oven & Kiln manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized HotShot Oven & Kiln dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
