Paragon · Electric Kiln · Ceramic + Glass Dual-Mode Paragon CT122822 Janus Ceramic and Glass Kiln CT122822 Janus · 208/240V · Cone 10 (2350°F) · 12-Sided Named for the two-faced Roman god, the Janus is Paragon's dual-mode kiln for a studio that works in both clay and glass. A dual heating system with elements in the top and sidewalls lets you switch between Glass Mode — top and middle elements only, for even heat across large fused sheets — and Pottery Mode, which fires sidewall elements for uniform multi-shelf ceramic loads. The 28"×22" 12-sided chamber holds 8.11 cubic feet and comes standard with Paragon's SENTINEL Smart Touch touchscreen controller.

Common questions
What does "Janus" / dual-mode mean?
The Janus has a dual heating system with elements in both the top and sidewalls. Glass Mode fires only the top and middle elements for uniform heat ideal for fusing large glass sheets, while Pottery Mode fires only the sidewall elements for even ceramic multi-shelf firings. You switch modes on the SENTINEL controller — no hardware changes needed.
Can I fire ceramics and glass in the same kiln without buying two units?
Yes — that's the entire point of the Janus. A studio that works in both media can run a Cone 10 bisque or glaze firing one day and a glass fusing or slumping schedule the next, without owning and housing two separate kilns.
Do I need 208V or 240V, and single-phase or three-phase?
The Janus ships wired for the voltage and phase you specify at order time. Most home and small studio installations use single-phase power at 240V; three-phase service is typically found in commercial or school buildings. Check your electrical panel or ask an electrician before ordering.
Does the kiln come with shelves or a stand?
No — the Janus ships as the kiln body itself. Shelves, posts, and a stand are sold separately, and glass work requires primer-coated shelves in addition to standard ceramic furniture.
Is the warranty valid if I buy from Peach State Pottery?
Yes. Peach State Pottery is an authorized Paragon dealer, so your CT122822 Janus comes with Paragon's full one-year manufacturer's warranty. Register your kiln within 30 days of delivery to activate coverage.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Paragon manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Paragon dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
