Olympic Kilns · Electric Kiln · Stackable Top-Loading Olympic 2827HE Electric Kiln Model 2827HE · 240V or 208V · 28.25″ W × 27″ H · 10 Cubic Feet · Cone 10 / 2350°F The 2827HE delivers 10 cubic feet of firing capacity in a stackable configuration with 28.25-inch interior width and 27-inch height, suitable for high-fire reduction-style glazes to Cone 10. This HE-series kiln uses 3-inch firebrick and balanced element design for even heat distribution across the full chamber depth. The stackable jacket design allows section-by-section replacement and simplified maintenance over the kiln's lifespan.

Common questions
Do I need an electrician to install the 2827HE?
Yes. This kiln draws 56 amps at 240V and requires a dedicated 70-amp circuit (80-amp at 208V) with a direct-wired connection. A licensed electrician must install the appropriate breaker, run #4 copper wire, and connect the kiln per National Electric Code standards. The kiln does not include a plug.
Does the kiln include shelves and posts?
No. Kiln furniture is sold separately because potters require different quantities and configurations based on their work. A typical furniture kit for the 2827HE includes 28-inch round cordierite shelves, various-height posts, and stilts. We recommend purchasing furniture at the same time as the kiln.
What does the Olympic warranty cover?
The one-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover consumable items like elements, thermocouples, or relays, which wear naturally with use. You must register your kiln within 30 days of delivery, and the warranty is valid only when purchased through authorized Olympic dealers like Peach State Pottery.
Can this kiln fire reduction glazes?
No. The 2827HE is an electric oxidation kiln. While it fires to Cone 10 (the same temperature as reduction gas kilns), it produces an oxygen-rich atmosphere. Many potters use reduction-style glazes formulated for electric kilns to achieve similar visual effects without actual reduction.
How much does the 2827HE cost to operate per firing?
At 13.44 kW and an average Georgia electricity rate of $0.12/kWh, a full Cone 10 firing (approximately 10-12 hours) costs about $16–$19 in electricity. Actual costs vary based on your utility rates, firing schedules, and kiln loading efficiency. Off-peak firing can reduce costs significantly.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Olympic Kilns manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Olympic Kilns dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
