Common questions
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?
Yes. The 2827E requires a dedicated 70-amp or 60-amp (1-phase) / 50-amp or 40-amp (3-phase) circuit (47-49A depending on voltage) with a direct-wired or NEMA range-style receptacle, installed by a licensed electrician according to local electrical codes. Installation by anyone other than a qualified electrician may void your warranty and create serious safety hazards.
Does this kiln come with shelves and posts?
No. Kiln furniture is sold separately because different users have different needs based on the work they're firing. We recommend ordering a furniture kit sized for the 28.25″ chamber when you purchase the kiln.
How does this compare to the MAS2827HE and DM2827HE?
All three share the same 28.25″ × 27″ chamber and 10 cu ft capacity. The 2827E is the Cone 8 version at the lowest price point; the MAS2827HE is the Cone 10 Medallion Artist Series version; the DM2827HE is the Cone 10 Dual Media (glass-capable) version. Choose based on the maximum temperature and glass capability you need.
Does a lower cone rating mean lower quality construction?
No — the 2827E uses the same stainless jacket, balanced element philosophy, and 3-inch brick as Olympic's Cone 10 kilns of this size. The difference is the elements and control programming are matched to a Cone 8 ceiling rather than Cone 10, which is what keeps the price down.
How do I register my warranty?
Register your kiln at the Olympic Kilns website within 30 days of delivery. You'll need your serial number (located on the control panel label), purchase date, and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. Peach State Pottery can assist with registration if needed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Olympic Kilns manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Olympic Kilns dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
