Olympic Kilns · Electric Kiln · Stackable Series Olympic Kilns 1827E Electric Kiln 1827E · 208/240V · 17.5″ dia × 27″ D · 3.95 cu ft · Cone 8 / 2300°F The 1827E is a deep, narrow stackable kiln built for Cone 8 ceramic work — a lower-cost alternative to Olympic's HE (Cone 10) line for potters who fire mid-range stoneware or majolica glazes and don't need the extra 50°F of headroom. Its 27-inch depth on a compact 17.5-inch diameter gives 3.95 cu ft of chamber space well suited to taller thrown pieces.

Common questions
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?
Yes. The 1827E requires a dedicated 50-amp (208V) or 40-amp (240V) circuit (31-36A depending on voltage) with a NEMA range-style receptacle, installed by a licensed electrician according to local electrical codes. Installation by anyone other than a qualified electrician may void your warranty and create serious safety hazards.
Does this kiln come with shelves and posts?
No. Kiln furniture is sold separately because different users have different needs based on the work they're firing. We recommend ordering a furniture kit sized for the 17.5″ chamber when you purchase the kiln.
Why would I choose Cone 8 instead of Cone 10?
If your glazes and clay bodies are formulated for Cone 6-8 (common for mid-fire stoneware and many commercial glazes), a Cone 8 kiln like the 1827E costs less to buy and run than a Cone 10 (HE) model, since it doesn't need the extra element capacity and insulation Cone 10 firing requires.
Can I still fire Cone 10 in this kiln occasionally?
No — the 1827E's elements and brick are rated for Cone 8 maximum. Pushing it to Cone 10 temperatures will shorten element life dramatically and isn't recommended. If you need Cone 10 headroom, look at the HE version of this chamber size instead.
How do I register my warranty?
Register your kiln at the Olympic Kilns website within 30 days of delivery. You'll need your serial number (located on the control panel label), purchase date, and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. Peach State Pottery can assist with registration if needed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Olympic Kilns manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Olympic Kilns dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
