Olympic Kilns · Electric Kiln · Dual Media Olympic DM2327HE Dual Media Electric Kiln DM2327HE · 208/240V, 1-Phase or 3-Phase · 23.375″ W × 27″ D · 7 cu ft · Cone 10 / 2350°F The DM2327HE is built to do something most kilns can't: fire full Cone 10 ceramics and kiln-formed glass in the same chamber. A dedicated lid element engineered for glass fusing works alongside the main chamber's Kanthal elements, so one kiln can cover a ceramic reduction-style bisque or glaze firing one week and a glass fusing or slumping project the next — no second kiln, no second footprint, no second electrical hookup. For a working studio that wants to diversify into glass without doubling its equipment budget, this is the single biggest cross-sell in the Olympic lineup.

Key features
Dual Media Lid Element Dedicated lid heating element engineered specifically for glass fusing and slumping, working alongside the main chamber elements used for ceramics.
KilnStar Digital Controller Pre-programmed with Cone Fire and Ramp/Hold modes for ceramics, plus the segment-based programming glass work requires.
3-Inch Brick Insulation High-efficiency firebrick construction reduces energy consumption and improves firing performance to Cone 10.
Protective Blank Brick Row A 2″ blank brick row in the first section shields the lower elements from glass drips and shelf contact during loading and unloading.
Stainless Steel Jacket Durable outer shell with corrosion resistance. Provides structural support and a clean, professional appearance.
Metal Stand Heavy-duty steel stand. Elevates kiln to comfortable loading height. Casters are an optional add-on.
Pilot Light External indicator shows when kiln is receiving power and heating elements are energized.
Type K Thermocouple Industrial-grade temperature sensor positioned for accurate chamber temperature reading.
Optional accessories
Solid State Relay (SSR) Upgrade Replaces mechanical contactors for silent operation and extended element life, valuable for kilns run in both ceramic and glass modes.
Kiln Furniture Kit (Ceramics) Shelves, posts, and stilts sized for this 23.375″ chamber for ceramic bisque and glaze firings.
Fiber Paper & Glass Kiln Shelf Fiber paper and a dedicated flat shelf protect the kiln floor and produce a clean back surface on fused glass pieces.
Orton Kiln Vent System Downdraft venting system removes fumes and moisture during firing. Improves studio air quality and glaze results.
Automatic Lid Lift Spring-assisted lid opener reduces physical strain. Especially useful given the added weight of the glass lid element.
Heavy-Duty Rolling Stand Upgraded steel stand with larger locking casters. Provides enhanced stability for this dual-purpose kiln.
Power Interrupt Safety System Automatically shuts down kiln if lid is opened during firing. Adds safety protection in multi-user studio environments.
Emergency Parts Kit Spare thermocouple, element connectors, and relay components, including a spare lid element for glass work.
Type S Thermocouple Upgrade Platinum-based sensor for improved accuracy and longevity at high temperatures. Recommended for frequent Cone 8-10 firings.
3-Phase Wiring Configuration Reduces amperage draw compared to 1-phase for facilities with 3-phase service already in place.
Controller upgrade
Genesis Touchscreen — Bartlett InstrumentsRecommended
The Genesis controller replaces the standard KilnStar with a full-color touchscreen interface and expanded programming capabilities. This is especially valuable on a dual-media kiln, since glass fusing schedules typically need many more segments and much more precise ramp/hold control than a standard ceramic firing. Store unlimited custom firing schedules with up to 32 segments each, monitor real-time temperature graphs, and access diagnostic data through the intuitive menu system.
  • 4.3-inch full-color touchscreen with graphical temperature display
  • Unlimited program storage with cloud backup capability via USB
  • Up to 32 segments per program — ideal for multi-stage glass annealing schedules
  • Real-time graphing shows temperature curve during firing
  • Advanced diagnostics including element resistance tracking and firing history logs
  • Cone Fire mode with Orton cone temperature equivalents pre-programmed for ceramic work
Common questions
How does one kiln fire both ceramics and glass?
The DM2327HE includes a dedicated lid element engineered specifically for glass fusing and slumping, in addition to the standard Kanthal elements in the main chamber walls used for ceramic bisque and glaze firing. A protective 2″ blank brick row in the first section shields the lower ceramic elements from glass drips. You fire ceramics using the chamber elements as normal, and switch to glass programs that engage the lid element for fusing work — all in the same kiln.
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?
Yes. The DM2327HE is direct-wired and requires a dedicated circuit sized to your configuration — up to 80 amps for 1-phase 208V service, or as low as 50 amps on 3-phase service. A licensed electrician must determine the correct breaker, wire gauge, and connection for your building's available power, and installation must meet local electrical codes.
Do I need different shelves for ceramics versus glass?
Yes. Standard ceramic shelves and posts work for bisque and glaze firing, but glass fusing requires a flat, kiln-washed or fiber-papered shelf to prevent the glass from sticking and to produce a clean surface. We recommend keeping a dedicated glass shelf separate from your ceramic furniture. Peach State Pottery can help you put together a starter kit for both.
Can I still fire full Cone 10 stoneware in this kiln?
Yes. The DM2327HE's main chamber fires to Cone 10 / 2350°F exactly like a standard Olympic MAS kiln of this size. The dual-media lid element is an addition, not a replacement — you're not giving up any ceramic firing capability to gain glass capability.
How do I register my warranty?
Register your kiln at the Olympic Kilns website within 30 days of delivery. You'll need your serial number (located on the control panel label), purchase date, and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. Warranty registration is required for coverage and must be completed within the 30-day window. Peach State Pottery can assist with registration if needed.
