2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Ceramic Kiln · Mega Coil Series Jen-Ken Mega Coil 2422 3" Ceramic Kiln Model AF 2422 Mega Coil 3" · 240V · 24" x 22" chamber · 2,300°F The smallest of Jen-Ken's large-format Mega Coil kilns: 5.76 cubic feet in a 24" x 22" chamber, 3-inch brick, and four oversized heavy-gauge coils. At 22 inches deep it is easier to load than the 31-inch models — you are not leaning into the kiln to set the bottom shelf. It is a sensible size for a studio that fires weekly and wants the Mega Coil element life without stepping up to 8 or 10 cubic feet.

Common questions
Why is there no breaker size or wire gauge in the spec table?Jen-Ken's page pairs this kiln's 36A draw with a 40A breaker and #8 wire, on a NEMA 6-50R receptacle. A kiln is a continuous load, so the breaker has to be sized to at least 125% of the draw — 45A — and a 6-50R is a 50-amp device that does not belong on a 40-amp circuit. Jen-Ken's own ceramic wiring table gives this chamber size #6 wire and a 50A fuse. The two do not agree, so rather than print a number that could be wrong on the one line your electrician will read, we are asking the factory and leaving it blank until they answer. Call or email us before you wire anything.
What is safe to rely on?240V single phase, 36A, 8,640W and a NEMA 6-50R receptacle. Those figures are internally consistent — 8,640W ÷ 240V is exactly 36A — and we are happy to publish them. Size the circuit to the 36A continuous draw with a licensed electrician and confirm the final numbers with us.
What is a Mega Coil?A separate, dearer Jen-Ken line, not another name for 3-inch brick. The elements are wound from heavier-gauge wire than a standard kiln uses, so they hold up better to frequent firing and are easier to replace. Jen-Ken builds a standard 2422 3" with the same chamber at a lower price — if you fire occasionally, buy that.
What can it fire?Jen-Ken publishes 2,300°F for this kiln but does not state a cone rating for it, so we have not invented one. At 2,300°F it is in the same class as their other cone 5-8 ceramic kilns. It will not reach cone 10. Ask us and we will get the working cone rating from the factory.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, lid lifters, furniture — before you order.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Talk to us before you book the electrician. We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Jen-Ken's published breaker and wire figures for this kiln do not add up, so call us — we will get the nameplate numbers from the factory before anything is installed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
