2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Ceramic Kiln · AF3C Series Jen-Ken AF3C 1822 Ceramic Kiln Model AF3C 1822 · 240V · 18" x 22" chamber · Cone 6 / 2,300°F The AF3C 1822 is Jen-Ken's mainstream studio kiln: 3.24 cubic feet of chamber, cone 6, and a 26-amp draw that runs from the same 30-amp circuit a household dryer uses. That combination is the reason it sells. It is large enough to fire a real body of work rather than test tiles, and small enough that most studios can power it without a service upgrade. Jen-Ken builds it to order in Lakeland, Florida, and it ships with the kiln stand and an Orton AF3C 3-button controller included.

Key features
Orton AF3C 3-button controllerJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire AF3C as standard — programmable ramp-and-hold firing rather than a manual kiln sitter.
Kiln standThe stand is included, not an extra. It lifts the kiln off the floor for airflow and brings the chamber to a workable loading height.
Integrated lid propBuilt into the lid for controlled venting during the early stages of a firing.
Instruction manualJen-Ken's printed manual, including firing schedules and their electrical requirements.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Built to order in FloridaAssembled in Jen-Ken's own Lakeland shop rather than drop-shipped from a distributor.
Optional accessories
3-inch brick upgradeJen-Ken offers this kiln with 3" brick instead of the standard wall, which they rate at roughly 20% more insulation. It is a separate model, not an option at checkout — call us and we will quote it.
Kiln shelves and postsJen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber. We stock them alongside the kiln.
Kiln washShelf primer keeps glaze off your shelves. Worth adding to a first order.
Furniture kitA matched set of shelves and posts for this chamber, cheaper than buying the pieces individually.
Common questions
What electrical circuit does it need? The AF3C 1822 runs on 240V single phase and draws 26A, which Jen-Ken pairs with a NEMA 6-30R receptacle, a 30A breaker and #8 circuit wire. That is the same class of circuit as an electric dryer, though the kiln needs its own dedicated run. A kiln is a continuous load, so have a licensed electrician confirm the breaker and wire against your local code before delivery.
What can it actually fire?Cone 6 at 2,300°F covers the great majority of studio pottery — mid-fire stoneware, porcelain, most commercial glazes. It will not reach cone 10. If you fire cone 10 reduction-look stoneware, look higher up the range.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Is the stand really included?Yes. Jen-Ken includes the kiln stand with this model. Some brands charge separately for it, so it is worth noting when you are comparing prices.
Not sure if the AF3C 1822 is the right size? We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Tell us what you make and what power you have available, and we will tell you straight whether this is the right kiln — including when a cheaper one would do.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
