2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Ceramic Kiln · AF3C Series Jen-Ken AF3C 15/13 "The Emerge" Ceramic Kiln Model AF3C 15/13 · 240V · 15" x 13" chamber · Cone 8 / 2,300°F The Emerge is the kiln Jen-Ken built for the person moving out of a community studio and into their own space. It is 1.4 cubic feet, draws 22 amps on 240V, and runs from the same class of 30-amp circuit a household dryer uses — so it usually goes in without a service upgrade. Jen-Ken rates it for ceramics, pottery and glass, which makes it a reasonable single kiln for someone who does both. It is small: a 15" x 13" chamber fires a real load of mugs, not a body of large work.

Key features
Orton AutoFire AF3C 3-button controllerJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire AF3C as standard — programmable ramp-and-hold firing rather than a manual kiln sitter.
Dual-media buildJen-Ken lists this model for ceramics, pottery and glass, so it does not have to be a clay-only kiln.
Instruction manualJen-Ken's printed manual, including firing schedules and their electrical requirements.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Built to order in FloridaAssembled in Jen-Ken's own Lakeland shop rather than drop-shipped from a distributor.
Side-fired elementsElements sit in the walls rather than the lid, which is Jen-Ken's standard arrangement on this line.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves and postsJen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber. We stock them alongside the kiln.
Kiln washShelf primer keeps glaze off your shelves. Worth adding to a first order.
Furniture kitA matched set of shelves and posts for this chamber, cheaper than buying the pieces individually.
208V or three-phase buildJen-Ken can build most ceramic models for 208V, and some for three phase, to order. Contact us for a quote — there is no published spec for those builds.
Common questions
What electrical circuit does it need?240V single phase, 22A draw. Jen-Ken pairs it with a NEMA 6-30R receptacle, a 30A breaker and #10 circuit wire. That is dryer-class power, but the kiln needs its own dedicated run. A kiln is a continuous load, so have a licensed electrician confirm the breaker and wire against your local code before delivery. Jen-Ken also notes that runs over 30 feet from the breaker may need the next heavier gauge.
What can it actually fire?Jen-Ken designs it to fire up to cone 8 at 2,300°F, which covers low-fire, mid-fire stoneware and porcelain. It will not reach cone 10. Jen-Ken also lists it for glass, so fusing and slumping schedules are within range.
Is 1.4 cubic feet enough? It depends what you make. It is a genuine working kiln for mugs, bowls and small sculpture, and it will fire a full load rather than a couple of test tiles. If you throw platters or tall vases, or you want to fire a month of production at once, look at the 1822 or larger.
One note on Jen-Ken's own pageJen-Ken's page carries a heading mentioning cone 9 while the body copy says it is designed to fire up to cone 8. We publish cone 8, which is the rating in the body text and the one consistent with a 2,300°F kiln.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, lid lifters, furniture — before you order.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Not sure if The Emerge is big enough? We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Tell us what you make and what power you have available, and we will tell you straight whether this is the right kiln — including when a cheaper one would do.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.

Jen-Ken has been owned and run by the same two brothers in Lakeland, Florida since 1991, and builds more than 60 kiln models for clay, glass and bladesmithing. The people who build the kilns fire them too.
