Jen-Ken · Ceramic Kiln · AF3C Series Jen-Ken AF3C 11/9 Ceramic Kiln Model AF3C 11/9 · 120V · 11" x 9" chamber · 2,100°F or 2,300°F The 11/9 plugs into an ordinary household outlet. No electrician, no dedicated 240V circuit, no panel work — 120V and a standard plug, which is why it is the kiln that gets bought for a classroom corner, a spare bedroom or a first attempt at firing. Jen-Ken builds it in two versions: a 15-amp model on a standard 5-15 plug that reaches 2,100°F, and a 17-amp model on a 5-20 plug that reaches 2,300°F. It is also used for glass fusing, slumping and drop moulds.

Common questions
Do I need an electrician?Usually not. Both builds run on 120V and a standard plug — the 15-amp model on a NEMA 5-15P, the 17-amp model on a NEMA 5-20P. Jen-Ken specifies a 20-amp breaker and #12 wire for both. What matters is that the kiln gets the circuit to itself: do not run it on the same circuit as a fridge, a heater or a shop vac, and do not put it on an extension lead.
Which build should I order? The 15-amp model plugs into any ordinary outlet and reaches 2,100°F. The 17-amp model needs a 5-20 outlet — the one with the sideways slot — and reaches 2,300°F. If your outlet is a plain 5-15 and you do not want to change it, take the 15-amp build. If you want the extra 200 degrees and have or can fit a 20-amp outlet, take the 17.
What can it fire?Jen-Ken rates it cone 04-06 — low-fire clay, bisque, earthenware, underglaze and low-fire glaze. It also does glass fusing, slumping and drop moulds, which sit comfortably below its ceiling. It is not a stoneware kiln.
A note on Jen-Ken's published figuresJen-Ken lists 1,800W for both builds, but 120V at 17 amps is 2,040W, not 1,800W — the 15-amp figure appears to have been repeated. We publish the wattage only for the 15-amp build, where it is consistent, and have asked the factory to confirm the 17-amp figure. It does not change the circuit: both are 20A and #12.
Is 0.55 cubic feet useful? For jewellery, beads, small glass, test tiles, a child's class or a few small pots at a time, yes. For anything larger, no — and we would rather tell you that now than sell you a kiln you outgrow in a month. The 15/9 is the next step up and still only needs a small circuit.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, lid lifters, furniture — before you order.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Smallest kiln we sell — and sometimes the right one. We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Tell us what you want to fire and we will tell you straight whether this will do it, or whether you need to step up to a 240V kiln.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
