2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Ceramic Kiln · 3-Inch Brick Jen-Ken 2422 3" High Fire Ceramic Kiln Model 2422 3" High Fire · 240V · 24" x 22" chamber · Cone 8 / 2,300°F This is the 3-inch brick, high-fire build of Jen-Ken's 2422 — 5.75 cubic feet, cone 8, 2,300°F. It is the size most serious home studios land on: big enough to fire a month of pots at once, small enough that the chamber is easy to load at 22 inches deep. The 3-inch walls and the higher 42-amp element load are what separate it from the standard 2422: more insulation, more power, and a genuine high-fire rating rather than a mid-range one.

Kiln shelves and postsJen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber. We stock them alongside the kiln.

208V or three-phase buildJen-Ken can build most ceramic models for 208V, and some for three phase, to order. Contact us for a quote — there is no published spec for those builds.
Common questions
What electrical circuit does it need?240V single phase, 42A draw, 10,080W, on a NEMA 6-50R receptacle with a 50A breaker and #6 circuit wire. That is a dedicated 50-amp circuit — more than a dryer outlet — so budget for the electrical work as part of the purchase. A kiln is a continuous load; have a licensed electrician confirm against local code, and note Jen-Ken's advice that runs over 30 feet from the breaker may need the next heavier gauge.
What can it fire?Cone 8 at 2,300°F. Mid-fire stoneware, porcelain, all the low-fire and bisque work below it. It will not reach cone 10.
How is this different from the standard 2422?Two things: 3-inch brick instead of the standard wall, and a heavier element load — 42 amps against 36. The extra power is what earns the cone 8 rating, and the extra brick cuts the running cost. The standard 2422 is the cheaper kiln and is rated cone 6 with high fire to cone 8.
Is 5.75 cubic feet enough? For most home studios and small production runs, yes — it is a genuinely useful working size that takes a full set of 21-inch shelves. If you fire for a class or a business several times a week, look at the 2822 3".
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, lid lifters, furniture — before you order.
Can I get it in 208V or three phase?Standard build is 240V single phase, and that is the only configuration Jen-Ken publishes a specification for. Jen-Ken will build most ceramic models for 208V, and some for three phase, to order. There is no published amperage, breaker or wire figure for a three-phase build, so contact us for a quote and we will get the numbers from the factory.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
High fire, or is the standard 2422 enough? We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Tell us what cone you fire and what your panel will take, and we will tell you straight which 2422 to buy — including when the cheaper one would do.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
