Cress · Parts · FirebrickReplacement insulating firebrick for Cress kilns, by the number of sides on your kiln and the job the brick does. Grooved bricks carry the element. Crossover bricks pass the element from one course to the next. Peephole bricks take the plug. Half and dummy bricks fill out a course. Count the flats on your kiln, then pick the brick and the wall thickness.

Wall thickness matters as much as the shape: a 2-1/2" brick will not fill a 3" wall. Measure the brick you are replacing before you order, or send us the model and we will tell you which your kiln takes.

Common questions
What is the difference between a grooved and a crossover brick? The groove is the channel the element coil sits in. A grooved brick carries the element along that course; a crossover brick is cut so the element can climb from one course to the next. You need both, in the positions the original build used.
How many sides does my kiln have?Count the flat faces around the outside of the chamber. Cress built 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12-sided kilns and the brick is cut to that angle, so a brick from an 8-sided kiln will not sit right in a 10-sided one.
Do I need the plain brick or a grooved one?Plain K-23 brick has no element groove. It is for patching a wall, building a prop or bricking up a position that carries no element. If the brick you are replacing has a coil in it, you want a grooved one.
How do I know this is the right part for my kiln?Send us the model and serial number off the kiln's data plate, at sales@peachstatepottery.com or (470) 264-3563. Cress built kilns for decades and their part lists use a shorthand that does not always map cleanly onto a model name, so we check it by hand rather than letting you guess.
Are these genuine Cress parts?Yes. We are an authorized Cress dealer and everything here is ordered from Cress in Carson City, Nevada, against their current parts list.
What if Cress no longer makes the part I need?Tell us the part anyway. Cress is still manufacturing, and where a part has been superseded they usually have a current equivalent — we would rather find it for you than let you buy the wrong thing.
Send us your model and serial numberCress part lists use a shorthand that does not always map onto a model name, and several parts are built per kiln. Read the model and serial off the data plate, send it over, and we will confirm the right part before you pay.
