Jen-Ken · Controllers · SDS Industries TAP SDS Industries TAP II Remote Controller SDS Industries TAP II · Touchscreen · Works with the TAP mobile app An external touchscreen controller that turns a manual kiln into a programmed one, with one thing the Orton controllers do not have: it talks to your phone. The TAP II works with the TAP Kiln Control mobile app, so you can watch a firing and make adjustments without standing in the studio. Customisable programming and multi-zone control, with high-temperature thermocouple support.

Common questions
Will this work with my kiln? Two rules from Jen-Ken. Your kiln's amperage must be lower than the controller's rating — check the nameplate on the kiln before ordering, because this is the one people get wrong. And it works only with manual kilns you adjust by hand; it is not compatible with kilns already fitted with an auto turn-up device. Send us your kiln's make, model and amperage and we will confirm.
What does the app let me do?The TAP Kiln Control app gives you remote monitoring and adjustment — you can see where a firing is and change it without being at the kiln. It does not make the kiln safe to leave unattended; it just means you are not guessing from the next room.
How does it compare to the Orton AutoFire® Slide? Both are external touchscreen controllers with multi-zone capability. The practical difference is the app: the TAP II pairs with TAP Kiln Control for phone monitoring. Orton's advantage is the broader AutoFire® thermocouple range. Happy to talk through which suits how you fire.
Which voltage and amperage does this one carry?Jen-Ken lists this controller at a single price and does not publish a selectable voltage, amperage or relay configuration here. Because the amperage rule matters, we would rather confirm the exact rating against your kiln than have you guess — get in touch.
Who handles the warranty?SDS Industries does — three years on TAP I and TAP II controllers, direct from the manufacturer. Jen-Ken does not warrant controllers. We will help you open the claim.
Check the amperage before you order An external controller rated below your kiln's draw is the most common and most expensive mistake here. Tell us your kiln's make, model and amp draw and we will confirm the right controller before you buy.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
