2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Ceramic Kiln · AF Series Jen-Ken 2422 Ceramic Kiln Model 2422 · 240V · 24" x 22" chamber · Cone 6 / 2,300°F The 2422 is the standard-brick version of Jen-Ken's 5.75 cubic foot kiln — the size a lot of home studios settle on once they outgrow an 1822. Twenty-four inches across and only twenty-two deep, so it takes a full set of 21-inch shelves and you can still reach the bottom one. Jen-Ken rates it cone 6, with high fire to cone 8. One thing to note before you order: Jen-Ken's published breaker and wire figures for this model do not match their own wiring table, so we have left those two rows for the factory to confirm.

Common questions
Why is there no breaker size or wire gauge in the spec table?Because Jen-Ken's two sources disagree, and this is the one line your electrician works from. Their product page pairs the 36-amp draw with a 40-amp breaker and #8 wire on a NEMA 6-50R. Their own printed ceramic wiring table gives this model #6 wire and a 50-amp fuse. A kiln is a continuous load, so the breaker must be at least 125% of the draw — 45 amps — which rules the 40-amp figure out, and a 6-50R is a 50-amp device that does not belong on a 40-amp circuit. Rather than print a number that may be wrong, we have asked the factory. Call or email us before you wire anything and we will give you what they confirm.
What is safe to rely on?240V single phase, 36A, 8,640W and a NEMA 6-50R receptacle. Those are consistent across Jen-Ken's sources — 8,640W ÷ 240V is exactly 36A. Size the circuit to a 36-amp continuous load with a licensed electrician and confirm the final figures with us first.
What can it fire?Jen-Ken rates it cone 6, with high fire to cone 8, at 2,300°F. That covers mid-fire stoneware, porcelain and all the low-fire work below it. It will not reach cone 10.
How is it different from the 2422 3" High Fire? The high-fire model has 3-inch brick and a heavier 42-amp element load, which is what earns it a straight cone 8 rating. This one has standard brick and 36 amps, and costs less. If you fire to cone 6 and you fire a few times a month, this is the sensible buy.
Is 5.75 cubic feet the right size?It is the most popular studio size for a reason — you can fill it on a monthly cycle without firing half-empty, and it still takes a platter. If you are firing every couple of months, the 1822 will cost you less to buy and less to run.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, lid lifters, furniture — before you order.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Talk to us before you book the electrician. We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Jen-Ken's own sources disagree on this kiln's breaker and wire size, so call us — we will get the nameplate figures from the factory before anything is installed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
