Jen-Ken · Glass Kiln · AF3P Series Jen-Ken 24-E 11" Glass Kiln Model AF3P 24-E · 240V · 24" x 11" chamber · 1,700°F The 24-E is the 18-E's bigger sibling and the point where a glass kiln starts holding production runs rather than single pieces. Twenty-four inches across gives you round work up to 20 inches in diameter or squares up to 15" x 15" — a large bowl, a proper platter, or four smaller pieces on one shelf. It fires top and side together, which is what a wide shelf needs to fuse without a cold ring at the edge. At 175 lbs on a 240V 26-amp circuit it is the same class of circuit as an electric dryer. One thing to know before you order: Jen-Ken's page prints a breaker size for this kiln that cannot be built as written, so we have left that row blank and explain why below.

Key features
Orton AutoFire AF3P controllerJen-Ken fits the AF3P as standard — programmable ramp-and-hold firing with blank user programs.
Kiln standOn Jen-Ken's included list for this model. It lifts the chamber off the floor and brings it to a workable loading height.
Top and side elementsElements above and around the work rather than in one plane only, which is what gives a 24-inch shelf an even fuse.
20-inch round capacityJen-Ken's own figure: circles up to 20" diameter or squares up to 15" x 15". That is a real platter, not a test tile.
Instruction manualJen-Ken's printed manual, including firing guidance and their electrical requirements.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves, posts and a furniture kitGlass wants a flat, primed shelf and fibre paper; casting wants posts and headroom. Jen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber and we stock them alongside the kiln. Tell us your shelf size and we will match it.
Kiln wash and shelf primerGlass will weld itself to an unprimed shelf. Most glass workers go through primer steadily, so it is worth adding to a first order.
Slumping moulds and fibre paperMoulds and fibre paper are the other half of a warm-glass setup. Tell us the shelf size you are working to and we will point you at what fits.
Controller upgradeJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire AF3P as standard and offers the Orton AutoFire Slide touchscreen and the SDS TAP II in its place. It is a factory option rather than a checkout add-on — call us and we will quote it.
Common questions
Why is there no breaker size in the spec table?Because the figure on Jen-Ken's page cannot be built as written. They list a 35-amp breaker behind a NEMA 6-30R receptacle — a 6-30R is a 30-amp device, so it must not sit on a 35-amp circuit. Jen-Ken's own owner's-manual wiring table pairs every 26-amp model in their range with a 30-amp fuse on a 6-30R, which is coherent, but it does not list the 24-E by name and we will not transplant a number onto a model it was not written for. The breaker size is one of the two figures you hand your electrician, so we would rather leave it blank than print a wrong one. Call or email us before anything is wired and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory.
What is safe to rely on?240V single phase, a 26-amp draw and 6,240 watts — which the arithmetic confirms, since 240V × 26A is exactly 6,240W — on a NEMA 6-30R receptacle with #8 copper. Those are published above and they match how Jen-Ken wires every other 26-amp kiln they build. Size the circuit to the 26-amp draw with a licensed electrician, and confirm the breaker with us first.
How big a piece will it take?Jen-Ken's own figures are circles up to 20 inches in diameter or squares up to 15" x 15". The chamber is 11 inches deep, so flat fusing and shallow slumps are comfortable; deep moulds are the 24-E 15"'s job.
How is this different from the 24-E 15"?Height, and only height on the inside. This one is 24" x 11" at 2.87 cubic feet and draws 26 amps; the 15" is 24" x 15" at 3.9 cubic feet and draws 33 amps on a 50-amp receptacle. Same 24-inch shelf and the same maximum piece size. The 15" also ships with lid lifters, which this one does not.
What cone will it reach?Jen-Ken publishes no cone rating for any kiln in their glass line, and we have not invented one. What is published is the maximum temperature, which is in the table above. Cone numbers are a ceramics measure; for glass work the temperature and the firing schedule are what matter.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Talk to us before you book the electrician. We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Jen-Ken's own figures for this kiln's breaker do not add up, so we have left that one row blank rather than print something an electrician cannot build. Call us and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory before anything is installed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
