2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Glass Kiln · JK² Series Jen-Ken JK² 15" Glass Fusing Kiln Model AFG JK2 15" · 240V · 27" x 27" x 15" chamber · 1,700°F Twenty-seven inches square by fifteen deep — six cubic feet of chamber that measures the same in both directions, which is what lets you fit a set of plates, a run of tiles, or a large rectangular panel without wasting the corners a round kiln gives away. The fifteen inches of height is the real reason to buy this over the 11-inch JK²: a deep sink mould or a tall draping form goes in standing up rather than not at all. It fires top and side together for an even fuse across a shelf that wide, ships with lid lifters and Jen-Ken's 12-button controller, and runs on a 240V 45-amp circuit. The breaker row is blank on purpose — Jen-Ken publishes two figures for it and one of them cannot be wired. That is explained below.

Key features
Orton AutoFire 12-button controllerThe 12-button AutoFire rather than the 3-button — preprogrammed schedules plus blank user programs, which is what you want once you are running several glass schedules.
Lid liftersOn Jen-Ken's included list. A 27-inch square brick lid is heavy; the lifters take most of that weight out of opening and closing it.
Kiln standIncluded by Jen-Ken. It lifts the chamber off the floor for airflow and brings it to a workable loading height.
Kiln washA starter supply of shelf primer is on Jen-Ken's included list — glass welds itself to an unprimed shelf.
15 inches of chamber depthJen-Ken's own point about this model: room for deep sink moulds and taller draping forms that the 11-inch build will not take.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves, posts and a furniture kitGlass wants a flat, primed shelf and fibre paper; casting wants posts and headroom. Jen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber and we stock them alongside the kiln. Tell us your shelf size and we will match it.
Kiln wash and shelf primerGlass will weld itself to an unprimed shelf. Most glass workers go through primer steadily, so it is worth adding to a first order.
Slumping moulds and fibre paperMoulds and fibre paper are the other half of a warm-glass setup. Tell us the shelf size you are working to and we will point you at what fits.
Controller upgradeJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire 12-button as standard and offers the Orton AutoFire Slide touchscreen and the SDS TAP II in its place. It is a factory option rather than a checkout add-on — call us and we will quote it.
Common questions
Why is there no breaker size in the spec table?Because Jen-Ken offers two and one of them will not work. Their page gives the breaker as "50A or 60A" on a NEMA 6-50R receptacle — but a 6-50R is a 50-amp device, so it cannot sit on a 60-amp circuit. The wiring table in Jen-Ken's own owner's manual gives the glass JK² a 50-amp fuse on that receptacle, which is the half of the range that can actually be built. We will not print a range where the other half is unbuildable, because the breaker size is one of the two figures you hand your electrician. Call or email us before anything is wired and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory for your build.
What is safe to rely on?240V single phase, a 45-amp draw and 10,800 watts — the arithmetic confirms it, since 240V × 45A is exactly 10,800W — on a NEMA 6-50R receptacle with #6 copper. Those appear consistently across Jen-Ken's sources and are published above. #6 copper carries 65 amps at 75°C, so it is sized for anything the breaker question resolves to. Jen-Ken's manual adds one caveat worth knowing: a run of more than about 30 feet from the panel may need the next heavier gauge.
How is this different from the JK² 11"?Height, and the current that comes with it. Both are 27" x 27". This one is 15 inches deep at 6 cubic feet and draws 45 amps; the 11-inch is 4.5 cubic feet and draws 36. Buy this one if you slump sinks, stand deep moulds up, or want to stack two shelves; buy the 11-inch if your work is flat and you would rather have the smaller circuit and the lower price.
And how is it different from the JK² 15" Glass/Casting?This is the plain fusing and slumping build: top and side elements together, rated 1,700°F. The Glass/Casting version is the same chamber and the same six cubic feet but adds a side-only firing mode and a 2,150°F ceiling, which is what casting moulds and low-fire clay need. Same box, two different kilns — if you only fuse and slump, this is the one to buy.
Why square rather than round?Because most glass work is not round. Square shelf area is what you actually use when you are laying out rectangular panels, square tiles or a set of four plates, and a round chamber gives those corners away. Square shelves are also cheaper to replace and easier to cut fibre paper for.
What cone will it reach?Jen-Ken publishes no cone rating for any kiln in their glass line, and we have not invented one. What is published is the maximum temperature, which is in the table above. Cone numbers are a ceramics measure; for glass work the temperature and the firing schedule are what matter.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Talk to us before you book the electrician. We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Jen-Ken's own figures for this kiln's breaker do not add up, so we have left that one row blank rather than print something an electrician cannot build. Call us and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory before anything is installed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
