2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Glass Kiln · JK² Glass/Casting Jen-Ken JK² 15" Glass/Casting Kiln Model AFG JK2 15" Glass/Casting · 240V · 27" x 27" x 15" chamber · 1,700°F glass / 2,150°F casting The JK² is the square one. Twenty-seven inches by twenty-seven, with fifteen inches of height — six cubic feet of chamber that is the same in both directions, which matters more than it sounds if you fuse round work or want to get four square pieces on a shelf without wasting the corners. Jen-Ken quotes it as taking projects up to 13 inches deep, so a bowl mould goes in standing up. It fires top-and-side together for fusing at 1,700°F and side only for casting and low-fire clay at 2,150°F, on a 45-amp 240V circuit.

Key features
Square 27" x 27" chamberEqual in both directions, so round and square work both use the whole shelf. Jen-Ken quotes room for projects up to 13" deep.
Selectable top/side and side firingTop and side together for fusing; side alone for casting, which is how the kiln reaches 2,150°F.
Orton AutoFire 12-button controllerJen-Ken fits the 12-button AutoFire as standard on this model — 23 preset programs plus 10 of your own.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Built to order in FloridaAssembled in Jen-Ken's own Lakeland shop rather than drop-shipped from a distributor.
Crate contents — ask usJen-Ken does not publish a crate list for this model. We will confirm exactly what ships with it, including whether a shelf and stand are in the crate, before you order.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves, posts and a furniture kitGlass wants a flat, primed shelf and fibre paper; casting wants posts and headroom. Jen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber and we stock them alongside the kiln. Tell us your shelf size and we will match it.
Kiln wash and shelf primerGlass will weld itself to an unprimed shelf. Most glass workers go through primer steadily, so it is worth adding to a first order.
Slumping moulds and fibre paperMoulds and fibre paper are the other half of a warm-glass setup. Tell us the shelf size you are working to and we will point you at what fits.
Controller upgradeJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire 12-button as standard and offers the AutoFire Slide touchscreen and the SDS TAP II in its place. It is a factory option rather than a checkout add-on — call us and we will quote it.
Common questions
What does "Glass/Casting" actually mean? Two firing modes in one kiln. For fusing and slumping the elements fire from the top and the sides together, which washes a wide shelf in even heat — that is what flat glass wants, and the ceiling there is 1,700°F. For casting, the side elements do the work on their own and the kiln will go to 2,150°F, which is the range a casting mould and a long ramp need. You select the mode; it is one kiln with two ways of heating, not a compromise between them.
Why is there no breaker size in the spec table?Because Jen-Ken offers two and one of them will not work. Their page gives the breaker as "50A or 60A" on a NEMA 6-50R receptacle — but a 6-50R is a 50-amp device, so it cannot sit on a 60-amp circuit. The wiring table in Jen-Ken's own owner's manual gives the glass JK² a 50-amp fuse on that receptacle. The breaker size is one of the two figures you hand your electrician, and we will not print a range where half of it is unbuildable. Call or email us before anything is wired and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory for your build. Everything else — 240V, 45 amps, 10,800 watts, the 6-50R and #6 copper — is published above and is consistent across Jen-Ken's sources.
What cone will it reach?Jen-Ken publishes no cone rating for any kiln in their glass line, this one included, and we have not worked one out from the temperature. What is published is the two ceilings — 1,700°F in glass mode and 2,150°F in casting mode — and those are in the table above. Treat 2,150°F as low-fire clay and glaze territory.
Will it fire clay?Low-fire clay and glaze, yes — Jen-Ken lists low-fire ceramics among this kiln's functions and 2,150°F is in that range. What it will not do is mid-fire or high-fire stoneware: cone 6 is out of reach, let alone cone 10. If pottery is the main event, buy a ceramic kiln and keep this one for glass. If you fire glass most of the time and want the option of a low-fire load, this is exactly the kiln for it.
How is this different from the plain JK² 15" Glass Kiln?Same 27" x 27" x 15" chamber, but the plain JK² 15" is a fusing kiln only, rated 1,700°F. This build adds the selectable side-only firing mode and the 2,150°F ceiling, which is what casting and low-fire clay need. If you will only ever fuse and slump, the plain one costs less.
Why square rather than rectangular?Because glass work is not always long. A 27-inch square shelf fits a 26-inch round piece, or four 13-inch squares, with no dead corners. A rectangular kiln of the same cubic feet wastes shelf on anything round. If your work is long rather than wide, the 2815 3" is the better shape.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, furniture, shelf — before you order.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Jen-Ken gives brick kilns two years. Keep your proof of purchase.
Talk to us before you book the electrician. We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Jen-Ken offers this kiln with a 60-amp breaker on a 50-amp receptacle, which is not a circuit that can be built, so call us and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory before anything is installed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
