Jen-Ken · Ceram-a-Glass · Dual-Media Kiln Jen-Ken Ceram-a-Glass 1815 Kiln Model CAG 1815 · 240V · 18" x 15" chamber · 1,700°F glass / 2,150°F ceramic The Ceram-a-Glass 1815 fires clay and glass from the same box using two separate sets of elements. Coils in the lid fire down onto the shelf for fusing and slumping to 1,700°F; coils in the walls fire from the side for ceramics and glaze to 2,150°F; a toggle switch chooses between them. The 18" x 15" chamber takes a 15" full round shelf or square work to 10.5", and the 26-amp draw still sits on the 30-amp dryer-class circuit the smaller 1513 uses — so you get a usefully bigger shelf without touching your electrical service.

Key features
Glass / ceramic switchTwo element circuits and a toggle that chooses between them — lid coils for glass, side coils for ceramics. This is the whole point of the Ceram-a-Glass line.
Orton AF3C 3-button controllerJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire AF3C as standard — programmable ramp-and-hold firing with 25 blank user programs, rather than a manual kiln sitter.
Kiln standJen-Ken lists the stand with this model. It lifts the kiln off the floor for airflow and brings the chamber to a workable loading height.
Kiln washShelf primer, included by Jen-Ken with this model. Glass in particular will weld itself to an unprimed shelf.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Built to order in FloridaAssembled in Jen-Ken's own Lakeland shop rather than drop-shipped from a distributor.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves, posts and a furniture kitGlass wants a flat, primed shelf; ceramics want posts and stacking space. Jen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber and we stock them alongside the kiln.
Controller upgradeJen-Ken offers the AutoFire Slide and the TAP II touchscreen in place of the standard controller. It is a factory option, not a checkout add-on — call us and we will quote it.
Kiln wash and shelf primerBeyond the starter kiln wash Jen-Ken includes, most glass workers go through primer steadily. Worth adding to a first order.
Fusing and slumping mouldsSlumping moulds and fibre paper are the other half of a glass setup. Tell us the shelf size you are working to and we will point you at what fits.
Common questions
What does the glass / ceramic switch actually do?A toggle on the control panel selects which set of elements does the work. Up is glass mode: the lid coils fire from above and wash the shelf in even heat, which is what fused and slumped glass needs, with the middle-side coils helping the chamber come up to temperature. Down is ceramic mode: the side coils take over for the side firing that clay and glaze want. It is one kiln with two element circuits, not a compromise between them.
What electrical circuit does it need?240V single phase, 26A, 6,240W, on a NEMA 6-30R receptacle behind a 30A breaker, on its own dedicated run. Jen-Ken's product page and the wiring table in their owner's manual agree on both the receptacle and the breaker for this model.
Why is there no wire gauge in the spec table?Because Jen-Ken's two sources disagree about it. Their product page specifies #10 copper; the wiring table in their own owner's manual specifies #6 for the whole Ceram-a-Glass line. Rather than print a number that could be wrong on the one line your electrician will read, we have asked the factory and left the cell blank. Call or email us before anything is wired.
How much bigger is it than the 1513, really?2.21 cubic feet against 1.33, and a 15" round shelf against a 13". The more useful difference is square work: 10.5" against 9". It draws 4 amps more and runs on the same 30-amp circuit, so the step up costs you nothing electrically.
What cone will it reach?Jen-Ken publishes no cone rating for this model, so we have not invented one. 2,150°F in ceramic mode is the figure to plan against — low-fire and mid-range clay and glaze, not cone 6 stoneware. Ask us and we will get the working cone rating from the factory.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken lists the controller, a kiln stand, kiln wash and the two-year warranty for this model. We do not want to guess beyond that list — call or email us and we will confirm exactly what is on the crate before you order.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Deciding between the 1513 and the 1815? We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. The two run on the same circuit, so the question is purely how big your work is. Tell us what you make and we will tell you which shelf you actually need.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
