Jen-Ken · Glass Kiln · AFG Glass/Casting 3" Jen-Ken AFG 2815 3" Glass/Casting Kiln Model AFG 2815 Glass/Casting 3" · 240V · 28" x 15" chamber · 1,700°F glass / 2,150°F casting The 2815 3" is the Glass/Casting kiln built for a studio that fires often. Three-inch brick instead of the standard wall — Jen-Ken rates that at roughly 20% more insulation — around a 28-inch shelf with 15 inches of height. It fires top-and-side together for fusing to 1,700°F, and side only for casting and low-fire clay to 2,150°F. Twenty-eight inches is enough for large platters, architectural panels and multi-piece loads, and the heavier brick is what lets you run it hard without punishing the elements. It needs a 45-amp 240V circuit.

Key features
3-inch brickHeavier insulation than the standard wall — Jen-Ken's own figure is roughly 20% more. It holds a soak better and costs less to run.
Selectable top/side and side firingTop and side together for fusing; side alone for casting, which is how the kiln reaches 2,150°F.
Orton AutoFire 12-button controllerJen-Ken fits the 12-button AutoFire as standard on this model — 23 preset programs plus 10 of your own.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Built to order in FloridaAssembled in Jen-Ken's own Lakeland shop rather than drop-shipped from a distributor.
Crate contents — ask usJen-Ken does not publish a crate list for this model. We will confirm exactly what ships with it, including whether a shelf and stand are in the crate, before you order.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves, posts and a furniture kitGlass wants a flat, primed shelf and fibre paper; casting wants posts and headroom. Jen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber and we stock them alongside the kiln. Tell us your shelf size and we will match it.
Kiln wash and shelf primerGlass will weld itself to an unprimed shelf. Most glass workers go through primer steadily, so it is worth adding to a first order.
Slumping moulds and fibre paperMoulds and fibre paper are the other half of a warm-glass setup. Tell us the shelf size you are working to and we will point you at what fits.
Controller upgradeJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire 12-button as standard and offers the AutoFire Slide touchscreen and the SDS TAP II in its place. It is a factory option rather than a checkout add-on — call us and we will quote it.
Common questions
What does "Glass/Casting" actually mean? Two firing modes in one kiln. For fusing and slumping the elements fire from the top and the sides together, which washes a wide shelf in even heat — that is what flat glass wants, and the ceiling there is 1,700°F. For casting, the side elements do the work on their own and the kiln will go to 2,150°F, which is the range a casting mould and a long ramp need. You select the mode; it is one kiln with two ways of heating, not a compromise between them.
What electrical circuit does it need?240V single phase, a 45-amp draw, 10,800 watts, a NEMA 6-50R receptacle, a 50-amp breaker and #6 copper. That combination matches the wiring table in Jen-Ken's own owner's manual, which gives every 45-amp kiln in their range #6 wire, a 50-amp fuse and a 6-50R, so it is a figure we are happy to print. It is a dedicated run; have a licensed electrician confirm it against local code before delivery.
What cone will it reach?Jen-Ken publishes no cone rating for any kiln in their glass line, this one included, and we have not worked one out from the temperature. What is published is the two ceilings — 1,700°F in glass mode and 2,150°F in casting mode — and those are in the table above. Treat 2,150°F as low-fire clay and glaze territory.
Will it fire clay?Low-fire clay and glaze, yes — Jen-Ken lists low-fire ceramics among this kiln's functions and 2,150°F is in that range. What it will not do is mid-fire or high-fire stoneware: cone 6 is out of reach, let alone cone 10. If pottery is the main event, buy a ceramic kiln and keep this one for glass. If you fire glass most of the time and want the option of a low-fire load, this is exactly the kiln for it.
Is the 3-inch brick worth it?If you fire more than about twice a week, yes. Jen-Ken rates the heavier wall at roughly 20% more insulation, which shows up as a steadier soak, lower running cost and less work for the elements. If you fire occasionally, you are paying for insulation you will not use — the 2415 Glass/Casting is a cheaper kiln on a lighter circuit.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, furniture, shelf — before you order.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Jen-Ken gives brick kilns two years. Keep your proof of purchase.
Firing several times a week? We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Tell us what you are making and what power you have available, and we will tell you straight whether this is the right kiln — including when a cheaper one would do.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
