Jen-Ken · Glass Kiln · AF3P Series Jen-Ken 24-E 15" Glass Kiln Model AF3P 24-E 15" · 240V · 24" x 15" chamber · 1,700°F The 24-E 15" is the tall one in the 24-inch family: the same 24-inch shelf and the same 20-inch round capacity as the standard 24-E, with fifteen inches of chamber height instead of eleven. Those four inches are the difference between fusing flat and slumping into a real bowl mould, or stacking a second shelf and doubling what a firing holds. Jen-Ken quotes circles up to 20 inches in diameter and squares up to 15" x 15". It fires top and side together for an even fuse across a wide shelf, ships with lid lifters so the lid is manageable one-handed, and runs on a 240V 33-amp circuit on a 50-amp receptacle.

Key features
Orton AutoFire AF3P controllerJen-Ken fits the AF3P as standard — programmable ramp-and-hold firing with blank user programs.
Lid liftersOn Jen-Ken's included list for this model. They take most of the weight out of the lid, which on a 24-inch brick kiln is the difference between a two-handed job and a one-handed one.
Kiln standIncluded by Jen-Ken. It lifts the chamber off the floor for airflow and brings it to a workable loading height.
15 inches of chamber heightThe reason to buy this over the standard 24-E. Room for deeper moulds and taller work on the same 24-inch footprint.
Instruction manualJen-Ken's printed manual, including firing guidance and their electrical requirements.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves, posts and a furniture kitGlass wants a flat, primed shelf and fibre paper; casting wants posts and headroom. Jen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber and we stock them alongside the kiln. Tell us your shelf size and we will match it.
Kiln wash and shelf primerGlass will weld itself to an unprimed shelf. Most glass workers go through primer steadily, so it is worth adding to a first order.
Slumping moulds and fibre paperMoulds and fibre paper are the other half of a warm-glass setup. Tell us the shelf size you are working to and we will point you at what fits.
Controller upgradeJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire AF3P as standard and offers the Orton AutoFire Slide touchscreen and the SDS TAP II in its place. It is a factory option rather than a checkout add-on — call us and we will quote it.
Common questions
What electrical circuit does it need?240V single phase, a 33-amp draw and 7,920 watts — the arithmetic checks, since 240V × 33A is exactly 7,920W — on a NEMA 6-50R receptacle behind a 40-amp breaker with #6 copper. That is Jen-Ken's published set and the parts are compatible: #6 copper carries 65 amps at 75°C and a 6-50R is a 50-amp device, so both sit comfortably above a 40-amp breaker. One arithmetical note, in the interests of not hiding it: a kiln is a continuous load, and the 125% rule puts a 33-amp draw at 41.25 amps of breaker, marginally over the 40 Jen-Ken specifies. Their own wiring table runs the same way across the line — 45-amp models on a 50-amp fuse — so this is Jen-Ken's convention rather than a mistake, and the wire is already sized for more. Have a licensed electrician confirm it against your local code, and if they want to go to 50 amps the #6 wire and the 6-50R receptacle already support it.
How big a piece will it take?Jen-Ken's own figures are circles up to 20 inches in diameter or squares up to 15" x 15", and the chamber is 15 inches deep. That is enough headroom for bowl moulds standing up, taller draping forms, or a second shelf on posts.
How is this different from the standard 24-E?Depth. Same 24-inch shelf, same maximum piece size, same 1,700°F, same top-and-side elements. This one is 15 inches deep at 3.9 cubic feet and draws 33 amps on a 6-50R; the standard is 11 inches at 2.87 cubic feet and draws 26 amps on a 6-30R. This one also includes lid lifters. Buy the standard if all your work is flat; buy this if you slump, drape or want to stack.
Will it fire clay? No. 1,700°F is a glass ceiling. For clay as well as glass, look at the Glass/Casting builds or the Ceram-a-Glass line — Jen-Ken rates those to 2,150°F and above and lists ceramics as a function.
What cone will it reach?Jen-Ken publishes no cone rating for any kiln in their glass line, and we have not invented one. What is published is the maximum temperature, which is in the table above. Cone numbers are a ceramics measure; for glass work the temperature and the firing schedule are what matter.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory two-year warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Keep your proof of purchase.
Not sure whether you need the extra four inches? We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Tell us what you are making and what power you have available, and we will tell you straight whether this is the right kiln — including when a cheaper one would do.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
