2-year limited warranty on brick kilns, 1-year on fiber kilns — direct from Jen-Ken.
Jen-Ken · Glass Kiln · AFG Series Jen-Ken 18-E 15" Glass Kiln Model AFG 18-E · 240V · 18" x 15" chamber · 1,700°F The 18-E 15" is the tall one in the 18-inch family. Same 18-inch shelf as the standard 18-E, but 15 inches of chamber height instead of 11 — which is the difference between fusing flat work and being able to slump into a proper mould or stack a second shelf. Jen-Ken quotes a 15-inch shelf taking pieces up to 10.5 inches square. Elements sit in the top and the sides, so a wide shelf heats evenly, and at 110 lbs on a 240V 26-amp circuit it is a real studio kiln rather than a bench one.

Key features
Orton AF3P 3-button controllerJen-Ken fits the Orton AutoFire AF3P as standard — programmable ramp-and-hold firing with blank user programs.
Top and side elementsElements above and around the work rather than in one plane only, which is what gives a wide shelf an even fuse.
15 inches of chamber heightThe reason to buy this over the standard 18-E. Room for deeper moulds and taller work on the same 18-inch footprint.
2-year limited warrantyJen-Ken's brick-kiln warranty, direct from the factory to the original purchaser.
Built to order in FloridaAssembled in Jen-Ken's own Lakeland shop rather than drop-shipped from a distributor.
Crate contents — ask usJen-Ken does not publish a crate list for this model. We will confirm exactly what ships with it, including whether a shelf and stand are in the crate, before you order.
Optional accessories
Kiln shelves, posts and a furniture kitGlass wants a flat, primed shelf and fibre paper; casting wants posts and headroom. Jen-Ken's own shelves and posts are sized to this chamber and we stock them alongside the kiln. Tell us your shelf size and we will match it.
Kiln wash and shelf primerGlass will weld itself to an unprimed shelf. Most glass workers go through primer steadily, so it is worth adding to a first order.
Slumping moulds and fibre paperMoulds and fibre paper are the other half of a warm-glass setup. Tell us the shelf size you are working to and we will point you at what fits.
Quartz viewing windowJen-Ken offers a viewing window on this model so you can watch a fuse without opening the lid. It is a factory option rather than a checkout add-on — call us and we will quote it.
Common questions
Why is there no breaker size in the spec table?Because the figure on Jen-Ken's page cannot be built as written. They list a 35-amp breaker behind a NEMA 6-30R receptacle — a 6-30R is a 30-amp device, so it must not sit on a 35-amp circuit. Jen-Ken's own owner's-manual wiring table pairs every 26-amp model in the range with a 30-amp fuse on a 6-30R, which is coherent, but it does not list this model by name so we will not transplant the number onto it. The breaker size is one of the two figures you hand your electrician, so we would rather leave it blank than print a wrong one. Call or email us before anything is wired and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory.
What is safe to rely on?240V single phase, a 26-amp draw and 6,240 watts — which the arithmetic confirms, since 240V × 26A is exactly 6,240W — on a NEMA 6-30R receptacle with #8 copper. Those are published above and they agree with how Jen-Ken wires every other 26-amp kiln they build. Size the circuit to the 26-amp draw with a licensed electrician and confirm the breaker with us first.
What cone will it reach?Jen-Ken publishes no cone rating for any kiln in their glass line, and we have not invented one. What is published is the maximum temperature, which is in the table above. Cone numbers are a ceramics measure; for glass work the temperature and the firing schedule are what matter.
How is this different from the standard 18-E?Height, and only height. The standard 18-E has an 18" x 11" chamber at 1.61 cubic feet; this one is 18" x 15" at 2.3. Same 18-inch shelf, same 1,700°F, same top-and-side elements. Buy this one if you slump into moulds or want the headroom to stack; buy the standard 18-E if your work is flat and you want to spend less.
How big a piece will it take?Jen-Ken's own figure is up to 10.5 inches square on the 15-inch shelf. A round piece can go larger. Tell us what you are making and we will check it against the shelf before you order.
What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess. Call or email us and we will confirm exactly what ships with this kiln — stand, furniture, shelf — before you order.
How long until it ships?Jen-Ken builds to order in Lakeland, Florida. Their own guidance is that kilns can take several weeks to months depending on the production queue. Call us and we will get you the current estimate before you commit.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, so the factory warranty applies exactly as it would buying direct. Jen-Ken gives brick kilns two years. Keep your proof of purchase.
Talk to us before you book the electrician. We are authorized Jen-Ken dealers based in Georgia. Jen-Ken's page puts a 35-amp breaker behind a 30-amp receptacle on this model, which is not a circuit that can be built, so call us and we will get the nameplate figure from the factory before anything is installed.

Common questions about this kiln

Still stuck? Call or text (470) 264-3563 and talk it through with a real person.

Is freight delivery included in the price?

No. Kiln prices do not include freight, and we do not quietly build it into the product price. Freight is charged at a flat rate based on your delivery address and is shown at checkout. Liftgate service is included when it is needed, and standard delivery is curbside. You can estimate your delivered cost with the ZIP code tool above the Add to Cart button.

Can I return this kiln if it is not right?

Return requests can be submitted within 30 days of delivery. The kiln needs to be in its original packaging, in new and resellable condition, and approved before it is sent back. A restocking fee may apply. Completing the manufacturer's recommended first test firing does not by itself make a kiln non-returnable, so you can confirm it works before you commit. Full terms are on our Returns page.

What electrical supply do I need for this kiln?

The Specifications tab on this page lists this model's voltage, amperage, required breaker size and NEMA plug configuration. Most 240V kilns need their own dedicated circuit fitted by a licensed electrician, while many 120V models run from a standard household outlet. If you are unsure what your space can support, call or text (470) 264-3563 before ordering.

Does this kiln come with a warranty?

Yes. This kiln carries the Jen-Ken manufacturer warranty. Coverage length, what is included and any registration deadline are listed in the Specifications tab on this page. We are an authorized Jen-Ken dealer, which is a condition of warranty coverage on most kiln brands.

What comes with the kiln, and what do I need to buy separately?

The What's Included tab on this page lists exactly what ships with this kiln. Most kilns need shelves, posts and kiln wash before your first firing, and these are not always included. A vent is recommended for indoor installations. Any add-ons available for this model are shown above the Add to Cart button.
