Common questions What electrical work is required to install the 2327HE? The 240V model requires a dedicated 60-amp circuit with 6 AWG copper wiring. This is not a standard household circuit and requires professional electrician installation. Hardwiring is recommended over a plug connection at this amperage. The kiln ships with an 8-foot power cord. Installation costs typically range from $400–$1,200 depending on distance from breaker panel and local electrical rates. A 208V option is available for facilities with three-phase power. Does this kiln include kiln furniture or do I need to purchase it separately? Kiln furniture (shelves and posts) is sold separately. For the 23.375-inch chamber, you'll need full round or square shelves designed for this diameter. A typical furniture kit includes 4–6 full shelves, 2–4 half shelves, and an assortment of 1-inch, 3-inch, and 6-inch posts. Budget approximately $400–$600 for a complete furniture set depending on shelf material (cordierite or high-alumina). Can I add or remove sections from this kiln later? Yes. The 2327HE uses Olympic's stackable ring system, which allows you to add 9-inch ring sections to increase firing height or remove sections to reduce chamber size. Each modification requires corresponding element replacement and may affect electrical specifications. Contact Olympic or Peach State Pottery before modifying to ensure proper element sets and controller compatibility. How do I activate the Olympic kiln warranty? Register your kiln with Olympic Kilns within 30 days of delivery to activate the one-year limited warranty. Registration is completed online at Olympic's website using your serial number and proof of purchase. Warranty is valid only on kilns purchased through authorized dealers like Peach State Pottery. Warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not cover wear items like elements, thermocouples, or firebrick, which degrade with normal use. What is the difference between the standard KilnStar controller and the Genesis upgrade? The KilnStar controller included with the kiln offers 8-segment programming and basic pre-set schedules, suitable for most studio firing needs. The Genesis touchscreen upgrade provides 32-segment programming, graphical firing displays, USB connectivity, Cone Fire automatic calculation mode, and advanced diagnostic tools. Genesis is recommended for artists firing complex schedules, those wanting real-time visual feedback, or studios running production workflows requiring detailed firing documentation.
