Authorized HotShot dealer · full factory warranty

Brand new and shipped direct from HotShot Oven & Kiln, so it carries HotShot's full factory warranty. If something goes wrong, call us and we handle the claim with the factory for you.

Warranty terms are in the Warranty and support section below.

Returns: request within 15 days, unused

Because kilns are heavy and often built to order, returns are limited, so we'd rather help you pick the right one up front:

  • Ask within 15 days of purchase or 2 days after delivery, whichever comes first. We issue a return authorization (RA).
  • It must be new, unused (beyond the factory test fire) and in its original packaging.
  • A restocking fee of at least 25% applies, up to 50% on custom, 3-phase or made-to-order units. Return freight is on the buyer unless we made an error.
  • Damaged in transit? Note it on the delivery receipt, send us photos and we'll help with the freight claim.

Not included: kiln shelves (sold separately). Hot Shot builds the 18A for 240V, 30-amp service. Have an electrician confirm the outlet.

Most 240V kilns need their own circuit and the matching outlet, installed by an electrician. Homes are usually 240V; schools and commercial buildings are often 208V, so pick the voltage that matches your panel.

Send us a photo of your breaker panel or outlet and we'll confirm before your kiln is built: 470-264-3563 (call or text).

Overview

Hot Shot Ovens & Kilns · Glass Kiln · Annealing Cabinet Hot Shot 18A Annealing Cabinet Model HS-18A · 240V · 18″ × 18″ × 18″ · 3.4 cu ft · Max 1700°F Purpose-built annealing cabinet with precision temperature control for glass artists working with rapid cooling schedules and controlled stress relief. Front-loading clamshell design with solid state relay for smooth, even heat distribution across the 18-inch cubic chamber. Runs on a dedicated 240V, 30-amp circuit.
Max temperature1700°F
Interior chamber18″ × 18″ × 18″
Power240V / 30A
Control systemSolid state relay standard
What’s included
The annealing cabinet itself, assembled and wired Built and wired in West Bend, Wisconsin, and shipped ready to connect. The type K thermocouple and the 40-amp solid-state relay are already installed inside it. The relay is an internal switching component, not the controller — the controller is a separate branded unit you choose when you order.
One programmable controller, as selected You pick the controller at the time of order, and one ships with the annealing cabinet. Current HotShot builds use the Bartlett Genesis Spark touchscreen, the TAP II Pro touchscreen or TAP&Go app-connected control. HotShot publishes no controller list for this model, so we confirm which options it takes before the order goes in.
Attached power cord and molded plug The cord is fitted at the factory with a molded plug. HotShot does not publish a cord length for this model, so we do not quote one. HotShot publishes amp ratings only and no NEMA plug code for any of its models, so we check the plug against the outlet you are going to use before your order ships.
User manual and controller manual The annealing cabinet manual plus the separate manual for whichever controller you chose — HotShot issues those as distinct documents, so you get the one that matches your unit.
Warranty — we confirm the term for your model HotShot warranty terms vary by family and by build year across this line, and HotShot publishes no term for this model. Rather than print a number we cannot stand behind, we get the term in writing from the factory before your order ships.
Not included Stand or bench, knife rack, kiln posts, shelves and any other kiln furniture are separate purchases. No HotShot manual or product page lists any of them as shipping with an annealing cabinet. The argon gas kit, where a model takes one, is also a separate item.

Controller option
Genesis Spark Touchscreen — Bartlett InstrumentsRecommended
Hot Shot builds the HS-18A with your choice of the TAP II touchscreen or Bartlett's Genesis Spark touchscreen. The Spark handles custom annealing schedules and lets you watch your firing from your phone. Ideal for glass artists running complex cooling curves or managing multiple project types.
  • Full-color touchscreen with Wi-Fi
  • Presets per industry plus 30 custom programs
  • Remote monitoring and firing alerts through the Bartlett Kiln Aid app
  • Built-in diagnostics and maintenance logging
  • Automatically adjusting PID temperature control
  • Software updates over Wi-Fi
Common questions
What's the difference between annealing, fusing, and slumping temperatures?
The HS-18A is optimized for annealing (stress relief) at temperatures typically between 900°F–1050°F, where glass is held at a stable temperature to equalize internal stresses. The cabinet reaches 1700°F, so Hot Shot also lists it for fusing, drapes and drops (fusing runs about 1400°F+, slumping about 1200°F–1350°F), but its layout is built around annealing. It excels at controlled cooling schedules and maintaining precise hold temperatures for thick glass pieces that need extended annealing cycles.
Can I add atmosphere control for flame-working or specialized techniques?
Yes, the HS-18A can be fitted with an optional atmosphere port kit that allows you to introduce inert gases or create reducing atmospheres. This is useful for certain dichroic treatments, metal inclusion work, or preventing devitrification on sensitive glass compositions. The solid state relay control maintains stable temperatures even when atmosphere flow is introduced.
What electrical service does the HS-18A need?
The HS-18A is built for 240V only. It needs a dedicated 240V, 30-amp circuit and does not come in a 120V version. Have a licensed electrician check your panel and install the correct outlet before the kiln arrives.
What controller should I choose for complex annealing schedules?
Both controllers Hot Shot offers are programmable touchscreens with Wi-Fi. The TAP II stores an unlimited number of programs and can be programmed on screen or from its free mobile app. The Genesis Spark stores 30 custom programs plus industry presets. If you're managing multiple glass types (soft vs. hard glass, varying thicknesses) or need to store and repeat many cooling curves, the TAP II gives you the most room. It's especially valuable for production studios or artists working with thick cast glass that requires elaborate cooling schedules.
Is my purchase covered under warranty if I buy from Peach State Pottery?
Yes. Peach State Pottery is an authorized Hot Shot Ovens & Kilns dealer, which means your HS-18A is covered by the manufacturer's one-year limited warranty. You must register the kiln within 30 days of delivery to activate coverage. Warranty is only valid when purchased through authorized dealers—gray market or used kilns are not covered.
Not sure if the HS-18A is the right annealing cabinet for your glass studio? Our kiln specialists can help you evaluate chamber size, electrical requirements, and controller features based on your annealing workflow and production volume.
