Common questions
Can I really run this oven on a standard household outlet?Yes. The KH 414 is specifically designed to operate on 120V household current (13 amps, standard NEMA 5-15 plug), making it perfect for home shops or spaces without 240V service. It will reach 1650°F in approximately 90 minutes and can hit a maximum of 2200°F, covering the vast majority of knife and tool steels. The tradeoff is slower heating compared to 240V models, but you gain the convenience of plug-and-go operation.
What size blades can I heat treat in the KH 414?At 13.5" deep, the KH 414 is the most compact model in the KH Series, making it ideal for smaller shop spaces. It handles most standard knife blade lengths comfortably. Inside, the chamber is 13.5" deep, 6.5" wide and 4.25" high. Contact us with your specific blade sizes and we'll confirm fitment before you order.
Why does the door open to the side instead of down?Side-opening design is a critical safety feature for heat treating. When you're removing red-hot steel for quenching, you need the superheated door out of your way, not in your path. The side-swing design positions the door safely away from your body and workspace, and the cool-touch handle at the front makes one-handed operation simple even with tongs in your other hand.
Does the KH 414 include the Quiet Drive Solid State Relay?Yes, it's standard on all KH ovens. Evenheat's patented Quiet Drive relay fires up to 60 times per second versus 10 times per second for standard mechanical relays, delivering exceptionally tight temperature control. For heat treating where precise temperature management directly affects blade hardness and performance, it provides consistency you can measure in your finished work. It also eliminates the clicking noise of mechanical relays.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Evenheat dealer. Your two-year warranty is fully valid and you have direct access to Evenheat’s support team. Buying from an unauthorized seller can void your warranty entirely.
