Common questions
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?Yes. A kiln of this capacity requires a dedicated 200-240 amp circuit and professional installation by a licensed electrician familiar with high-amperage equipment. The electrician will need to run heavy-gauge wire from your main panel and install appropriate breakers and disconnects per local code.
How many shelves can I fit in this kiln? The optional furniture kit includes 4 layers of shelving with assorted posts sized for the 46" x 46" chamber. You can configure the interior for fewer tall pieces or more closely-spaced shelves depending on your production needs. Custom furniture configurations are available if you need different spacing.
How does the car loading system work? The entire kiln chamber sits on a wheeled cart that rolls out on heavy-duty steel rails. You roll the cart out, load your work at a comfortable height, then roll it back into the stationary outer shell for firing. This eliminates bending and reaching deep into a cavity, making it much easier to handle large sculptures or heavy production loads.
Should I add a solid state relay? For a production kiln of this size, yes. The solid state relay provides tighter temperature control for consistent results across multiple firings, extends element life, reduces energy consumption, and eliminates the mechanical wear that eventually requires relay replacement. It will pay for itself in element longevity and energy savings.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Olympic Kilns dealer. Your one-year warranty is fully valid and you have direct access to Olympic’s factory support team. Buying from an unauthorized seller or the used market can void your warranty entirely.
