Common questions
Can I plug this into a regular household outlet?Yes. The KH 418 is specifically designed to run on standard 120V household power at 15 amps. It plugs into any standard outlet and doesn't require an electrician or special wiring. This is the main advantage of the KH Series over the 240V models.
How long does it take to reach hardening temperature? The KH 418 reaches 1650°F in approximately 90 minutes. Because it runs on 120V instead of 240V, it takes about twice as long to heat up compared to higher-voltage models, but it absolutely reaches full temperature and maintains tight control once there.
What size blades can I heat treat in this oven? The 18-inch depth accommodates most knife blanks, including large chef knives, bowies, and swords up to 17 inches long. The 4×4-inch cross-section handles typical blade widths easily. This is the deepest KH model and the most popular choice among bladesmiths.
Is 2200°F hot enough for all knife steels?Yes, 2200°F covers the vast majority of steels used by knife makers and small machine shops. Most popular blade steels like 1084, 5160, O1, and even many stainless steels harden well below 2000°F. Only specialized high-speed steels require higher temperatures.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Evenheat dealer. Your two-year warranty is fully valid and you have direct access to Evenheat’s support team. Buying from an unauthorized seller can void your warranty entirely.
