The LB 18 features Evenheat's revolutionary side-element-only design, eliminating rear wall heating to deliver dead-nut front-to-back temperature uniformity across the full 18-inch chamber depth. Designed specifically for culinary and long-blade makers, this heat treat oven lets you use the entire chamber length without overheating blades at the back wall. The side-opening door swings a full 180° to keep the super-heated door well away from you during quenching.

Common questions
What makes the side-element-only design better for heat treating?Traditional ovens with rear heating elements create hot spots at the back wall, limiting usable chamber depth and risking overheating on long blades. The LB Series eliminates the rear element entirely, delivering perfectly uniform temperature front to back so you can use the full 18-inch depth without repositioning blades or worrying about uneven heating during critical austenitizing cycles.
Can this oven handle the steels I'm working with?The 2200°F maximum temperature covers the vast majority of knife steels including high-carbon steels (1095, 1084, 5160), tool steels (O1, A2, D2), and most stainless steels (440C, AEB-L, 154CM). This temperature range is sufficient for austenitizing, normalizing, and tempering cycles for nearly all culinary, tactical, and custom knife applications.
Why does the side-opening door matter?Heat treating requires fast removal of blades at critical temperature for quenching—every second counts. A side-opening door that swings 180° keeps the super-heated door completely out of your way and protects your arms and face from radiant heat during quenching operations. Traditional drop-down doors force you to reach over the hot door surface, creating safety risks and awkward positioning.
