Common questions
What steel types can I heat treat in the HT-2?The 2000°F maximum temperature covers the vast majority of steels used by knife makers and machine shops, including 1095, 1084, 5160, O1, A2, D2, and most stainless steels like 440C and AEB-L. Higher-alloy steels like S30V and M4 that require temperatures above 2000°F would need a different oven.
Why does the side-opening door design matter?Heat treating requires rapid removal of steel from the chamber for quenching. With a side-opening door, the super-heated door swings away from you rather than staying in your path, giving you clear access to the chamber and keeping the intense radiant heat away from your face and body during critical quenching operations.
What electrical service do I need for the HT-2?The HT-2 requires 240V at 48 amps, which means you'll need a dedicated 50-amp circuit with appropriate wire gauge. This is similar to what an electric range or large welder requires. We recommend having a licensed electrician evaluate your panel and run the circuit to ensure safe operation.
How does the HT-2 compare to the HT-1?The HT-2 offers significantly more chamber volume than the HT-1, making it ideal for custom knife work and small production runs where you need to heat treat multiple pieces at once or handle longer blades. If you're doing one-off work or smaller knives, the HT-1 may be sufficient, but the HT-2 gives you room to grow.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty? No. We are an authorized Evenheat dealer. Your two-year warranty is fully valid and you have direct access to Evenheat’s support team. Buying from an unauthorized seller can void your warranty entirely.
Not sure if the EH-HT-2 is right for you? We’re authorized Evenheat dealers based in Atlanta. Call, email, or chat — we’ll give you a straight answer about specs, sizing, and accessories before you spend a dollar.
