The 1818HE is Olympic's most popular mid-size stackable kiln, and for good reason. It fires to full Cone 10, fits through a standard doorway in sections, and is built around Olympic's proven electrical box design that keeps components cool firing after firing. Bartlett KilnStar digital controllerComes standard on the 1818HE. Cone fire presets plus full ramp/hold programming. Add time, skip steps, or adjust mid-firing without stopping the kiln. Preheat hold at 200°F built in.
3″ firebrick constructionThicker than the 2.5″ brick found in many competing kilns. Better insulation means lower energy cost per firing and more consistent wall-to-wall temperatures.
Pilot lightVisible from across the studio. Always know at a glance whether the kiln is powered and firing — a simple but important safety feature.
Metal stand and stainless steel jacketSturdy stand positions the kiln at a comfortable working height. Stainless jacket protects the exterior from daily wear and studio spills.

Common questions
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?Yes. The 1818HE requires a dedicated 240V or 208V circuit with a 30-amp breaker and a NEMA 6-30 outlet. Most garages and home studios don't have this pre-installed. A licensed electrician can typically add the circuit in 2–4 hours. We're happy to send the spec sheet to your electrician directly — just reach out before you order.
Is the solid state relay included or an upgrade?It's an optional upgrade — not included in the base price. That said, it's one of the best investments you can make in this kiln. Tighter temperature control, longer element life, lower energy bills, no moving parts. We strongly recommend adding it.
Can I expand this kiln later?Yes. The 1818HE is part of Olympic's stackable series. You can add sections later to increase chamber depth without replacing the control box, stand, or electrical connection — one of the main advantages of this design over a one-piece kiln.
Do I need a furniture kit?Yes — firing directly on the kiln floor damages both the floor and your work. If you don't already have furniture sized for this kiln, add the kit to your order. Ordering separately after the fact costs 10–20% more and incurs a separate shipping charge.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty?No. We are an authorized Olympic Kilns dealer. Your one-year warranty is fully valid and you have direct access to Olympic's factory support team. Buying from an unauthorized seller or the used market can void your warranty entirely.
