Do I need an electrician to install this 240-volt kiln?
Yes. The MAS1823HE requires 240-volt single-phase service with a dedicated 40-amp circuit and 8 AWG copper wiring. Most homes and studios do not have this pre-installed. Hire a licensed electrician familiar with NEC Article 422 (appliances) to install the appropriate breaker, wiring, and outlet or hardwired connection. Can this kiln fire both ceramics and glass?
The MAS1823HE is designed primarily for ceramic work through Cone 10. You can fire glass in it, but the deep chamber and standard lid configuration are not ideal for fusing. Consider the dual media lid kit accessory if you plan to regularly fire glass—this replaces the domed lid with a flat design optimized for even heat distribution during glass fusing.
