Common questions
What steel types can I heat treat in the HT-1?The 2000°F maximum temperature covers the vast majority of knife steels and tool steels including 1095, 5160, O1, A2, D2, and most stainless steels like 440C and AEB-L. You can perform austenitizing, normalizing, annealing, tempering, and color case hardening. Only a few specialty high-speed steels and some powder metallurgy steels require temperatures above 2000°F.
Why does the door open to the side instead of dropping down?Side-opening doors are the safest design for heat treating because they swing completely away from you during quenching operations. When you're quickly removing red-hot steel to plunge into oil or water, the last thing you want is a 1500°F door in your way. The side-swing design puts the super-heated door well clear of your work area and body.
Do I need the Quiet Drive Solid State Relay upgrade?The Quiet Drive SSR is already included with the HT-1 at this price. This is a significant advantage because mechanical relays can cause temperature fluctuations of 10-15°F during critical hardening phases, while the solid state relay maintains accuracy within 2-3°F. For heat treating where precise temperature control directly affects hardness and grain structure, the SSR is essential and you're getting it standard.
What electrical service do I need for this oven?The HT-1 requires 240V single-phase power. The specific amperage and breaker requirements depend on your controller selection and options. Contact us with your facility's electrical specifications and we'll confirm compatibility and provide exact wiring requirements. Most commercial shops and many home workshops already have 240V available for welders or other equipment.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty?No. We are an authorized Evenheat dealer. Your two-year warranty is fully valid and you have direct access to Evenheat’s support team. Buying from an unauthorized seller can void your warranty entirely.
