Common questions
What types of glass work can I fire in the HS-7G?
The HS-7G reaches 1850°F, making it suitable for fusing compatible glass (COE 90 and COE 96), small-scale slumping projects, annealing, and firing dichroic glass. The 7″ × 7″ chamber accommodates glass pieces up to approximately 6″ square with proper shelf clearance. It's ideal for jewelry components, small decorative tiles, test tiles, and sample work. Not recommended for full-fuse projects larger than 6″ or lampworking annealing that requires higher temperatures.
Can I use this kiln on a standard household outlet?
Yes. The HS-7G operates on 120 volts and draws 15 amps, allowing it to plug into a standard NEMA 5-15 household outlet. You should use a dedicated 15-amp circuit for the kiln—avoid sharing the circuit with other appliances during firing. Confirm your outlet is properly grounded and the circuit breaker is rated for continuous 15-amp loads before operation.
What's the difference between fusing and slumping temperatures?
Fusing typically occurs between 1400°F and 1500°F depending on the degree of fusion desired (tack fuse, contour fuse, or full fuse). Slumping happens at lower temperatures, usually 1200°F to 1300°F, where glass softens enough to drape over or into a mold without fully fusing. The HS-7G's programmable controller allows you to create multi-segment programs for both processes, including critical annealing ramps that prevent thermal shock cracking.
Does the HS-7G come with shelves and posts?
No. Kiln furniture (shelves and posts) is sold separately as an optional accessory because glass artists have different needs depending on project type. You'll need at least one kiln shelf sized to fit the 7″ chamber (typically a 6″ to 6.5″ square shelf) plus fiber paper or kiln wash to prevent glass adhesion. Posts are needed if you plan to fire multiple shelves simultaneously.
How do I ensure my warranty stays valid?
Register your HS-7G with Hot Shot Ovens & Kilns within 30 days of delivery to activate the one-year limited warranty. Purchase must be made through an authorized dealer like Peach State Pottery—kilns purchased through unauthorized resellers or secondhand are not covered. Keep your receipt and registration confirmation. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not cover consumable parts like elements and thermocouples or damage from improper installation or operation.
Not sure if the HS-7G is the right kiln for your glass studio? Our team can help you compare chamber sizes, temperature requirements, and electrical specs to match your production needs.

Approved returns of eligible HotShot stock units are subject to a 25% restocking fee.

Original shipping costs are not credited or refunded. Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility unless otherwise stated under an approved warranty claim.

Return Process

To start a return, contact Peach State Pottery with your order information and reason for return. We will help coordinate the next steps.

  1. Request return authorization.
  2. Wait for RMA approval before shipping anything back.
  3. Repackage the product carefully in its original, unmarked packaging.
  4. Ship the product prepaid and insured to the designated return address.
  5. The product will be inspected after arrival.
  6. If approved, your refund or credit will be processed.

Return Shipping Damage

Peach State Pottery is not responsible for damage incurred during return shipping.

We strongly recommend taking photos of the return packaging before shipment and using a prepaid, insured shipping method. Any damage that occurs during return shipping may be deducted from your refund.

Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, you will be notified whether your refund has been approved or rejected.

If approved, the refund will be issued back to the original payment method. Please allow time for your bank or credit card company to process the refund after it has been issued.

Late or Missing Refunds

If your refund has been approved but has not appeared yet, please check your bank or credit card statement, contact your card issuer or bank, and then contact Peach State Pottery if you still need help.

Exchanges

Exchanges are generally only available for items that are defective, damaged, or approved under the applicable manufacturer policy.
