What does the stackable design allow me to do?
The three-section stackable construction means the top, middle, and bottom sections separate completely. This makes the kiln easier to move through doorways and up stairs during initial installation. In the future, you can add or remove sections to change the chamber height (creating an 18-inch or 36-inch tall chamber instead of 27 inches), or you can purchase additional sections to build a second kiln using some of your existing sections. Each section contains its own heating elements.
How is the warranty activated?
Olympic requires warranty registration within 30 days of delivery to activate the one-year limited warranty. You'll need to register directly with Olympic Kilns (not with Peach State Pottery) and provide proof of purchase. The warranty only covers defects in materials and workmanship when purchased through authorized dealers. Wear items like elements, thermocouples, and relays have separate coverage terms outlined in the warranty documentation.
Can this kiln fire glass as well as ceramics?
Yes, but you'll want the dual-media lid conversion accessory for optimal glass fusing results. The standard ceramic lid configuration works for glass firing, but the dual-media system includes a lower-profile lid specifically designed for glass work that provides better heat distribution for fusing and slumping. The KilnStar controller can be programmed for glass firing schedules with appropriate ramp and hold segments for glass projects.
