Olympic Traveler 120v Electric Kiln
The Traveler 120v is Olympic's most portable electric kiln, designed with built-in wheels for easy relocation between classrooms, studios, or workspaces. Common questions
Can I plug the Traveler 120v into any standard wall outlet?
Yes, but it must be a dedicated 15-amp circuit—meaning nothing else can be plugged into that circuit during firing. The kiln draws 13.3 amps continuously for several hours, so sharing the circuit with lights, other equipment, or outlets in adjacent rooms will trip the breaker. Most homes have multiple 15-amp circuits; an electrician can verify which outlets are isolated or install a dedicated outlet if needed.
What cone rating can the Traveler 120v reach?
The 2000°F maximum temperature reaches approximately Cone 04, making this kiln suitable for low-fire ceramics, earthenware, ceramic decals, china paint, glass fusing, enameling, and test tiles. It cannot reach mid-range or high-fire temperatures (Cone 5-10) required for stoneware or porcelain.
Do I need to purchase a furniture kit separately?
Yes. The kiln ships without shelves or posts. You'll need to purchase a furniture kit sized for the 11.5″ × 11.5″ chamber or custom-cut shelves to fit. Most users purchase one full shelf and several half shelves with 1″ and 2″ posts for stacking flexibility.
How do I register the warranty?
Complete the warranty registration on Olympic Kilns' website within 30 days of delivery. You'll need your kiln's serial number (found on the data plate), purchase date, and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. Warranties are not valid for kilns purchased from unauthorized resellers or used/secondhand units.
Is the mobile wheel base sturdy enough for frequent moves?
Yes. The factory-installed wheel base is engineered for the Traveler's weight and center of gravity. It's designed for classroom and studio environments where the kiln is relocated weekly or even daily. For long-distance transport or uneven surfaces, support the kiln from underneath or disassemble if moving in a vehicle.
