Common questions
Can this kiln really fire to Cone 10 on a standard 120-volt outlet?
It fires on 120 volts, but not a standard household outlet. The 1214-120HE draws 24 amps and requires a dedicated 30-amp circuit with a NEMA L5-30 twist-lock receptacle — not the standard 3-prong outlet found in most rooms. You will need an electrician to install the correct receptacle if one is not already in place. The “HE” designation stands for High Efficiency: 3-inch brick and an optimized element layout allow this kiln to reach Cone 10 / 2350°F on 120 volts, though firing cycles will typically run 12–18 hours to Cone 10 due to the lower wattage compared to 240V kilns.
What is the lead time for this kiln?
This is a made-to-order kiln with an 8–12 week lead time from Olympic’s factory. After your order is placed, we confirm your voltage, controller selection, and any options before it enters production. If you need a kiln sooner, our Quick-Ship version of the 1214-120HE ships from dealer stock within 2–3 weeks and includes a furniture kit.
Does this kiln come with a furniture kit?
No — this version does not include a furniture kit. Furniture must be ordered separately or added to your kiln order at time of purchase. We strongly recommend adding furniture to your initial order: sourcing it separately results in an additional shipping charge and a separate delivery. The furniture kit for this kiln includes two 10″ round shelves and a full set of posts from 1″ to 6″, plus kiln wash.
What electrical work do I need before delivery?
You need a dedicated 30-amp, 120-volt circuit with a NEMA L5-30 twist-lock receptacle installed by a licensed electrician. The circuit must be on its own breaker with 10 AWG wiring minimum. Do not share this circuit with other appliances. If you are unsure about your current electrical setup, contact us before ordering and we can walk you through what to tell your electrician.
What size work can I fire in an 11.25″ chamber?
The 11.25″ diameter accommodates plates up to 10.5″, bowls up to 10″ wide, and vessels up to 12–13″ tall depending on shelf configuration. This is well-suited for hobbyists, apartment studios, small production runs, test firing, and educational settings. For larger work, consider the Olympic 2327 or 2336 series.
How do I register the warranty?
Register at Olympic’s website within 30 days of delivery. You will need your serial number (on the data plate affixed to the kiln), purchase date, and dealer name (Peach State Pottery). Warranty is valid only through authorized Olympic dealers and covers manufacturing defects for one year from date of purchase.

Damage that occurs during shipping or delivery is not treated as a manufacturing warranty defect. Freight damage must be documented at delivery and handled through the freight claim process.

Please inspect your shipment carefully before signing for delivery. Take photos or video of the packaging before unpacking and continue documenting the unpacking process, especially if you notice any visible damage.

Warranty Claim Process

If you believe your Olympic kiln has a warranty-related issue, contact Peach State Pottery with your order information and a description of the issue. We will help review the situation and assist with the next steps.

If the issue is not resolved through the retailer, Olympic Kilns must be contacted in writing within six (6) days of the first indication of the defect.

Olympic Kilns will determine which parts appear to require repair and will provide instructions for shipment when needed.

For warranty service, the customer may be responsible for dismantling, packaging, and shipping only the parts requested by Olympic Kilns.

  • Requested parts must be packaged carefully and shipped freight prepaid.
  • The customer is responsible for dismantling and reinstalling parts.

If an entire kiln is returned for warranty repair, the customer is responsible for prepaying the cost of packaging and shipping both to and from the factory.

Repair, Replacement, or Refund

If Olympic Kilns determines that the issue is due to a manufacturing defect, Olympic Kilns will repair, replace, or refund as appropriate within thirty (30) days.

Repaired or replacement parts will be shipped back to the customer at Olympic Kilns’ cost using the customer’s package. The customer is responsible for reinstalling the parts.

Non-Warranty Repairs

If the parts sent to Olympic Kilns require repair or replacement for a reason not covered by the warranty, no work will be performed until the customer authorizes the work and makes payment arrangements.

Limits of Warranty Coverage

Olympic Kilns shall not be liable for injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of its products.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to every customer. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.

Not sure if the Olympic 1214-120HE is the right kiln for your studio? We can help you compare models, plan your electrical requirements, and make sure this kiln fits your space before you order. Talk to an expert →

Warranty

Olympic Kilns Warranty

Olympic Kilns are warranted by Olympic Kilns / Haugen Manufacturing, Inc. for kilns used for ceramics, pottery, and glass, subject to the warranty periods, requirements, and exclusions listed below.

This warranty is provided by Olympic Kilns / Haugen Manufacturing, Inc. Peach State Pottery is here to help customers understand warranty coverage and assist with the process if warranty service is needed.

Warranty Periods

Warranty coverage depends on the kiln type and configuration.

Product / Component Warranty Period
Kilns equipped with a Kiln Sitter and Safety Timer 1 year
Cone 10 kilns 1 year
All other Olympic kilns 2 years
Thermocouples Not covered
Kiln furniture Not covered

Warranty coverage must be activated by registering your purchase.

What the Warranty Covers

Olympic Kilns warranty coverage applies to defects in manufacturing for eligible kilns used for ceramics, pottery, and glass.

If a covered manufacturing defect is confirmed, Olympic Kilns may repair, replace, or refund the affected part or product as appropriate.

Warranty Registration Required

To activate warranty coverage, your Olympic Kilns purchase must be registered. Keep your proof of purchase, order information, and any product documentation for your records.

Reporting a Defect

Defects must be reported in writing within six (6) days of discovery. Your written notice should include:

  • The date the issue was discovered
  • The place of purchase
  • Proof of purchase
  • A description of the defect
  • Photos or videos, if available

Warranty Exclusions

The Olympic Kilns warranty does not cover damage or issues caused by:

  • Kilns damaged or altered after leaving the factory.
  • Damage caused by reduction firing or salt firing.
  • Over-firing or exceeding the maximum cone or temperature rating.
  • Improper installation.
  • Use of electrical voltages different from those specified for the kiln.
  • Firing materials other than ceramics and glass.
  • Thermocouples or kiln furniture.

Freight Damage Is Not Warranty Damage

Customer Responsibilities

For warranty service, the customer may be responsible for dismantling, packaging, and shipping only the parts requested by Olympic Kilns.

  • Requested parts must be packaged carefully and shipped freight prepaid.
  • The customer is responsible for dismantling and reinstalling parts.
  • The customer is responsible for packaging and shipping costs unless otherwise stated.
  • Only the parts requested by Olympic Kilns should be shipped.
